The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

From everything I have read and also first hand experience, birds have a high metabolism rate. Birds in the wild will fill their crops just before going to roost. This allows them to maintain their body heat overnight, and they don't have to use their stored bodyfat to keep their internal core temperature up. This is why when snow is on the ground, they can not find enough to eat and have to relie on the stored fat to maintain body heat. Also the reason for a large die off in winter. This is where people say feeding corn will provide heat by raising their body temperature....not necessarily an accurate statement but this is how "old wives tells" become engrained as a popular myth.

Be careful with that "old wives" stuff! :gig

A little fresh air is good for you, button up your coat!

Yeah, I have some insulated overalls and a coat we bought last year so I should at least be toasty. Gonna find some gloves too cause I definitely need them. I've been waiting for a friend who was supposed to pick something up today but she stopped replying 3 hours ago so I'm gonna go outside now, can't wait forever.
