The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sounds like a productive day Kelsey!

I think so! Been meaning to clean up for a while, just never got around to it. Of course, I didn't even really start today until 3 so it did not start out very productive but turned productive! Much more than I usually do anyway. I think I'll keep up this productive streak. Finish cleaning up and fixing their run tomorrow, maybe clean my room too. Maybe even clean the cat box or fish tank or buy a bigger tank. Maybe not all tomorrow. Don't wanna do too much at once but while I'm on a productive streak. If it rains, I'll hold off on the outdoor stuff and clean my room tomorrow maybe

KD, I'm pretty sure Todd has been in TN for more than a year. I showed pics of Franklin to DW and she too was amazed at how similar the coloring is.

ETA: Let me know if they do the DNA test, I would be interested in the results.

Ah okay, probably not the father then. I figured since TX is relatively far from TN but they could've fooled me! Lol it really is amazing how similar they look. Will be interesting to see if Franklin will be a similar size as Todd too. I don't think he's going to get very big.

And I'll let you know for sure! I think they're definitely going to it but with just buying the cabin recently I think they're maybe saving or something. Maybe I'll buy it for them for Christmas, it's not too much I don't think. Would be interesting to know for sure.

I am 30 pages behind! Oh boy!

My DS has had a nasty cold (picked up from one of his cousins) but he's perkier today. My Nan had to have an operation yesterday - they'd found cancer in her thyroid but thankfully it hadn't gotten any further. Thankfully she handled the surgery and anaesthetic just fine. They'd said the operation would be 4-6 hours long, depending on what they found and she was done in 4.

My DD had found a 5 leafed clover the afternoon before the operation so I took that as a good sign. I've got a photo but I'll have to download it from my phone. It's one crazy clover. We are currently pressing it.

My doves hatched one chick but I brought it in to warm it up as it was dry but still half in its shell and it didn't feel (or act) warm enough. It was cool overnight. They've nested in a ridiculous spot so I've added more bedding to try and keep baby in the right place (not easy with the sitting parent trying to bite me, not that dove beaks are strong enough to even hurt).

The other egg was very cold and I feared the worst but I've got it wrapped up with a hot water bottle and it started moving when I candled once it was warm and its started tapping away in there so we'll see what happens there. I may put it in the incubator overnight as it hasn't externally pipped yet and I don't trust those silly doves not to lose it during the night (not that I really need another bird)!

Evening folks, meet Todd

Todd is beautiful! His face looks like a border collie to me (not that I really have much of a clue). I'd feed him wherever you want. Our girl gets fed once a day (she's fed raw food), sometimes in, sometimes out. Scattering their food in the grass and making them search for it is a good brain exercise for them.

I was busy putting up tarps and screwing plywood on where it was needed. Glad to be indoors.

I need to find some tarps and winterize the run, although I'm debating whether I should because I like them to have sunlight and fresh air. Kinda worried if I wrap it too much they might not be able to breathe/it'll get ammonia filled. Maybe I'll just wrap like half or 1/4 of it. The part in front of the ramp. Thinking of getting those clear polycarbonate roofing panels for the roof too but not sure how or if it's even possible to attach them to a chainlink run.

I might have a tough time getting productive tomorrow. Supposed to be 7° overnight, difficult to think I want to go outside. There isn't any great hurry to get down to the animals since they have plenty of food and water and won't come out of the barn anyway.

BUT ... I need to drive 25 miles south to Burlington for 10 AM to rent a pickup at UHaul then come back home to load the splitter to be returned 50 miles south. It might be 20° at 10. Going to have to pull the splitter out of the little barn and up to the parking area with the garden tractor, then rig some chain so I can lift it with the real tractor into the bed of the truck. Sure hope that thing has tie down locations on it somewhere.

This would be substantially more fun if the day started at 35°.

Screw the panels to 2x4s and put it on top.
