Hey everyone! We had very humid weather (horrible) then we had a big thunderstorm. A farmer not far down the line had 4 cows hit by lightning in front of him and they fell down dead. He'd just gone out to check on his flock so it could've easily been him. They were worth a bit of money so he was a bit gutted to lose them. Here in Auckland a few people got zapped too but not directly so everyone was OK. Now we have a cold front moving through but that should be gone by the weekend.

Just had a share a photo of our sweet Daisy. Usually when you point the camera at her she closes her eyes.

Weve been making candy cane sleighs to give as presents and we tried out a batch of melting snowmen cookies (though ours were mudmen as I had some milk chocolate to use up).

We'll make proper ones to give as gifts too. The kids had a ball decorating them

I also tried making Santa bread (in the shape of Santa's face) but the recipe was far too dry so I have another one to try. It tasted yummy (I had to add more milk) but it was hard to make the shape as the bread kept puffing and not wanting to stay stretched out for the hat band. My hat didn't want to stay flopped over either. But he tasted good.

I have a cupboard full of baking ingredients so guess I need to get on it. I'm going to fix mom up with a box of treats and send them to her. She doesn't do much cooking or baking anymore so she'll like getting that.

left the snow in pa and if theres a gator in the pipe, well gators good eating and i won't tell

I just got some gorgeous photos of my friendly fantail, or piwakawaka in Maori (pronounced pee-wok-ah-wok-ah). But they are on my decent camera so I'll download them when I can (open home here tomorrow morning so hopefully I'll get a chance in the afternoon). They are sweet little birds that are naturally very friendly. This little guy is raising his 2nd batch of babies and it looks like he has two so he is hard at work searching out flying insects to feed them. Apparently babies need to be fed every 10 minutes. So it's no wonder he is happy to eat the moths I catch him that roost under the roof of the chicken run. He'll even sometimes take them right from my fingers.

Then we have our pair of ducks who alternate between swimming in the stream and demanding food. I'm just a sucker and the birds know it! Last night they slept under our pohutukawa (poe-hoo-too-kah-wah) tree. It's considered NZ's Christmas tree as it has bright red flowers which bloom in December. They are early bloomers this year after a wet winter.
