maybe because the ingredients were expensive in those days? i know my momma never made ambrosia except at christmas, even being in florida at that time oranges were hard to come by, not to mention the coconut that momma shredded to put into itStewed prunes and orange slices - Mom used to make that every Christmas. Yes! 1\4 tsp of cloves. Sorry about that-- old family recipes are like this one sometimesron, 1/4 teaspoon of ground cloves?, just to make sure, i think a tablespoon would overpower it but better safe than sorry

what about looking on the net for someone who sells them, like stark brothers, they might have them and we've ordered fruit trees from them before, not cheap but good qualityYes! I should plant one if I can find just one. They usually sell them in orchard quantities.

ron, stark does have one they call stanley prune plum and if you type in french prune plum different companies come up, but aren't cheap but you could have them shipped to you if calif allows itYes! I should plant one if I can find just one. They usually sell them in orchard quantities.
