The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

In order to hurry permits along I switched it to a deck for the time being.
Yeah, everyone has a frost foundation/crawlspace under their deck!
Good thinking :)

I blame sunsweet for putting plums on there package. The sugar and moisture content is different and dehydrate and preserve better.
Like Zante currants. They aren't currants at all, they are grapes, ie RAISINS!

Yes! 1\4 tsp of cloves. Sorry about that-- old family recipes are like this one sometimes
t = Teaspoon
T = Tablespoon!

Like something straight out of a movie.
Life in prison is too good for scum like El Chapo.

Within the next three years. I could retire next summer at 60 and a half but need to make sure health insurance and finances are in line.
Yeah that health insurance thing is a big trip up to retirement plans. Hopefully DW will be working at least until I hit Medicare in just over 2 years. Of course it is 8 years for her.

To insure me, DW would have to use half her pay... I'll be working until I reach medicare. Spent two years uninsured, it was cheaper to pay the penalty. They didn't care I was unemployed, it was $13K/year for the insurance with a $6K deductible, based upon my prior to unemployment salary.

but of course, unless you make it yourself :thumbsup

Fond memories. One of the reasons I loved Germany was Christmas time was like it was when I was a kid. As you were shopping, you could have the warm wine (sorry can't spell it's name) and freshly roasted chestnuts, but more importantly everyone was nice to everyone. Total strangers would strike up a conversation and just be nice. And the Danish chocolates were to die for... Just don't eat too many and drive.:gig

One Christmas season, Mom skipped breakfast and lunch to get all the Christmas mail delivered. One of her houses got the Danish chocolates and apparently gave her six, which she promptly consumed without understanding what was in them. A house or two later knew me and called me to come help her finish her route. She had quite the hangover the next morning. BTW, she's a teetotaler. And she especially enjoyed the "Jack Daniels" chocolates. :lau:gig:lau

I love that story Bob! :gig

Most chocolates with liquor in them are lined with sugar. Totally hoses up the taste. Centuries ago a chocolatier in the Danish court figured out how to do it without the sugar lining. It's still a very closely guarded secret, but ohhh they are so good. Back in VA we could get two year old chocolates from the same company and they were wonderful. But in Germany we could get fresh. :drool Those and marzipan are my favorites.:drool

Sad that they can't figure out that "past performance is not a guarantee of future returns". You can't afford things on today's income simply because you made more in a prior year!

morning sour:frow

we used to have the live trees and planted after christmas but soon ran out of places to plant them and then many years later we had to start cutting them down, afraid they would go down in a storm and on top of the house, with just their main tap root and surface roots :hithated to, they were so big and beautiful
We have 13 acres, so no problem.

But think of all the oxygen they generated over the years!

I am going to try keeping it in the pot so i can use it next year. Lots of room in the pot for fresh dirt.
The Italian Stone Pine I had, started growing really fast for some reason, suppose to be a slow grower, anyway, that's why I transplanted it to one of my pens...lost it's Christmas tree shape.
