The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

It’s been super short ever since. So I went from this:

Yeah, two days of 70s followed by weeks of 90-105. :he

Several semi trucks blown over on I 25 near Wheatland yesterday, Debby. What part of a “70-80 mile an hour wind warning, trucks with trailers prohibited” don’t those drivers understand?

You listening, Debby? Good stop on your way to Casper if you take that route. But the casino allows smoking, and you have to walk through the casino part to get to the restaurant. I’m a smoker and it’s strong to me! But once you get into the restaurant you don’t smell it, so your meal is stink-free. Ken has a visitation in Riverton on Jan 11 but I don’t think I’m going unless Jen can get her appointment changed. Otherwise I have the girls. But we’ll be there on the 18-20th again for the Grand Master’s Winter Reunion so I’ll get my lobster then!

I like your short hair! And I like mine short too! No fuss at all, wash, finger comb, go.

Re: the tip overs...that's why I don't like those big trucks around me. I get passed them as soon as I can.

I hear you about Wind River! That's another "one of these days we'll do it" things. We aren't much for gambling but sounds like the restaurant is worth the stop!

In our immediate family, the only one who isn’t a Capricorn is Tam, and she just missed it!
Aw but she is a "cusp" so she can be "part" Capricorn.
ETA OOPS! Just saw you posted Bdays on another thread. Katie is a cusp, Tam isn't. So she can't be even part Capricorn.

Bruce, thanks for the phone call this morning. Hated to cut you off, but Ken had started Shrek and was getting impatient!
No problem! Wouldn't want him to be wasting any gasoline. Loved talking to you.

Much prefer an ordinary car. But it's my brother toy, and he HAD to get one because my son did.
Wouldn't mind at all getting a Tesla, someone want to give me one?

Tam posted this today
Isn't it nice that someone who knows you well has the same opinion of you that we here have? Just validates that you are giving us the real you.

I don’t have any of that stuff, can you buy it without a doctor?
Yes, as noted. But the glucose monitoring strips are friggin' expensive without insurance. Don't know that insurance would pay for them for you without an actual diagnosis of diabetes. Had to get them for the cat. Searched Amazon every time for the best price because it changes all the time, never bought from the same supplier twice in a row.

Princess is 100 % , but apparently we are not meant to have 'Christmas' with our family this year. Today we were supposed to go to our daughter's to celebrate grand daughter's birthday. Princess is on the phone right now. Daughter called, and she and SIL are both sick. Probably picked up something on the plane or while in California.
Nothing wrong with celebrating New Years! We are doing a rib roast today. It was MIL's annual task to celebrate New Year's and DW's Bday (next Sat) for decades well before I met her 30 years ago. I was delegated the duty when the in-laws moved to the retirement community some years back and MIL decided she wasn't making dinner ever again :gig.

Thanks, that’s useful. I’ll have to search Amazon. Although my blood work was good at the last physical except a little high so I don’t think I have diabetes but idk. From reading, apparently some people get weak after working out? So maybe it is just a normal thing or something

Thanks. It was really long and thick a few years ago, and frankly I just loved it. I could pile it up on my head, like in the photo Tam posted, or pony tail it, or wear it down - just pick a style and go. Then I discovered a “miracle” cleansing product called “Wen” and fell in love with it. I actually bought it by the gallon and used it exclusively for over a year! My hair was softer and shinier than ever! But it started to thin, badly. I’d had surgery about that time and it wasn’t unusual for anesthesia to cause a little thinning, so I wasn’t worried at first. But it got worse and worse....pink scalp showing in places. Then Jen saw a news report that there was a class action lawsuit against Wen for the very thing I was experiencing - severe hair loss. Some people were lucky and after they stopped using the product their hair started coming back. Others never did get back to what they had before. I am one of those. So I could either have thin, stringy hair or cut it all off and try to start over. It’s been super short ever since. So I went from this:

That photo of Little Diane and me was taken in 2011, so mine was even a little longer that that when the Great Hair Exodus happened.

It was quiet one, Sean, just the way I like them! Thanks!

Walleye are my very favorite, best caught by a campsite on a lake or river in eastern South Dakota and cooked over a campfire the same day! Here walleye are considered “trash fish” because they decimate the wild trout populations. People are beginning to figure out how fun they are to catch and how good they are to eat, so the walleye fishery is picking up, but it’s still strange to watch somebody excitedly pull in their line, cuss and say, “Just a blankety blank blank walleye.”

I’m sorry the wuzwels are hitting your family, especially when you had plans to spend time together. By our ages, every minute we can spend together is priceless.

I have been unhappy with RL for a couple of years now. Lobster tails the size of shrimp, prices up, quality down....used to be my favorite place to eat. Now for my lobster fix we hit the Wind River Casino in Riverton. The Red Willow restaurant in there has huge lobster tails, and the cocktail shrimp are the size of RL lobster tails! $29.00! The butter is served in little fancy holders with a flame under it so it stays nice and hot and melty-down-your-chinny decadent! You listening, Debby? We are pretty close to eastern SD. Around here our best fish is Walleye. My meal was free at Red Lobster today. I had to send my steak back twice. Apparently well done means bleeding all over the plate:hmmHubby’s order was wrong but was an easy enough fix. Biscuits were great though! Got a steal on coffee at Sam’s Club...$4.91 for a 48 oz can so bought 12. On the way home and roads are great now.

Pretty sad. There was a RL in South Burlington for a while. Service was never good. There is an Olive Garden there now.
