Do people actually do this? Seems kinda dangerous.

I’ll send you all we have.I want snow![]()
It’s nice here too. It’s 36 right now. The chickens were out of the coop when I got home.News flash.....
It is 41* here!Such a nice change from what we've been having. Even the chickens are enjoying it, running around the run, taking dust baths, chatting up a storm.
We're due for more snow tomorrow night but I'm enjoying this sunshine now!

X2@rjohns39, I'm willing to bet that your assumption is correct.
I don't have to have a permit for my prairie chickens because Texas doesn't have any Greater Prairie chickens anymore, they use to be native but were hunted to extinction in Texas. We do have Lesser Prairies though and they would require a permit.I’m pretty sure Coturnix are considered livestock or domestics and not wildlife and are therefore legal without a permit. At least that is how it is here in MA and in a lot of states from my reading. The bobwhite quail, chukar, pheasants, etc. are wildlife that you would need a permit for but most places consider coturnix domestic.
I would have done it back when I young and dumb but now old and dumb, I'd break every bone in my body.Do people actually do this? Seems kinda dangerous.![]()

It's kinda funny when you think about some of the laws they have, the common Chinese Ringnecked pheasant isn't a native species either but almost every state that has introduced them for hunting, require permitting.![]()

Bet you didn't notice the Frankolin, did ya? It was a hen, here's a pic of a male.

Nothing I would call actual snow here so far. I think we had 2-3 inches one day but melted the next. Bet we are going to have a real hot summerjust mean outrageous electric bills.

Only extinct in Texas, with the exception of mine, but no wild stock. There's other states that still have isolated pockets. That’s sad they’re extinct now
And huh, didn’t realize they weren’t native. That does seem silly to have permits then. But maybe it’s because they would thrive if loose and could take over from native birds?
Nope, didn’t even notice! Pretty birds!
And yeah, I just think it seems pretty rocky and shallow to be doing backflips into
We have had barely a dusting
