The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We're under a wind advisory starting at 9:00 tonight going through mid-day Wednesday. Although, living where I do, the mountains tend to push the winds over me, unless they come in from the South.
Our winds are coming out of the SSE so not too bad (Tanee Marah) 'Lonely Wind'....they'll die down tonight.

I was wondering today if your 'pond' had become an ice skating rink. My back yard which was a swamp is now an ice rink.

Yup!! It’s an ice rink today. Although I haven’t been out to test quite how frozen it is yet - too cold. 5 degrees today. Been inside all day.

It's still snowing here. I thought all you back east folks were taking all of the snow, we shouldn't be getting this!
Yeah y'all are suppose to be getting it. There's a new front that should just about be centered over y'all right now.

Most everyone down south understands what 'directly' means...when I hear some say it, I can figure in a few minutes to a few hours.
So it is like airline flights. There are "direct" flights, that means the plane and flight number don't change but you could land any number of times and have to hang around for hours. Then there are "non stop" flights. Which DO stop, but only at the destination airport. Guess if I'm in the south I'd have to tell someone I'll be there "non stop" if I don't mean "directly" ;)

Just came in from feeding and watering my birds. Sunshine 65°F but the winds blowing about 15 mph.
Oh sure, rub THAT one in! Our overnight low is supposed to be -12°F at 6 AM with a -26°F windchill.

 :th

:gig:gig yep, the metal ones we usually call 'metal tanks'....some folks call them stock tanks, too! :D And your right, 'directly' is exactly that....southerners have a way of dilly-dallying around and to them that's directly. :lau when they 'get round to it', now if they give you a certain time, say 8:00 am, then they will be there on-time...at least the old timers will be on-time. ;)

And as far as someone doing something when they get around to it, they actually used to sell those at the quick stop stores.
