The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

I hate that too Sharron! We live in an area that used to be rural, but so many people built near us and all are very rude about their dogs. If they are not yapping then they are trying to get to our chickens! :rant:barnie
we have a new neighbor at home the same, they adopted a dog from a shelter that is wild, sometimes she puts the dog outside and it comes down to our place, the first time she came down trying to catch the dog, didn't work, finally she just went home and just waited til the dog came home,(course it did make us laugh watching her) if the dog comes down and trys to kill my chickens, there will be h-ll to pay, we live in the rual area too, husband was born there going on 72 years ago but in the last ten years the farmers have died and who ever gets it, resells it into small acre parcels:he

Just about like that, substituting a deaf pitbull and undisciplined, intact dobies next to them, and a bored wiemeriner trying to dig under the backyard fence. I have a waterhose, pepper spray and a loaded pistol. In that order.

I assume you mean talk to the dogs because talking to the owners would likely be futile.

Sometimes it works. Neighbors across the street 'rescued' a pit/Chesapeake bay retriever cross. When he started crossing the road and coming up my drive to challenge me and threaten our golden, I had a talk with the neighbor. Told him that the day the dog attempted to bite me or my dog was the day I would shoot him - the dog that is. They had Invisible Fence installed and the problem was solved. When they moved to NC they had the dog euthanized because he was so human and dog aggressive.

i do feel sorry for the dog but if there was nothing that could be done with him, its better that they put him down before someone got hurt

That is a very bad combination of breeds. CBRs are very aloof and dominant type of dog, combined with what I can only assume is a poorly bred pit, would just be downright dangerous.

Their son, a veterinarian, moved into the house and wanted to keep the dog. He has an infant daughter - neighbors knew how Teddy was and said, "No way." This dog had been in multiple homes before ending up across the street. No delivery people would deliver to the home.

Man. That's so sad. Someone really dropped the ball on him early on. No way for him to feel secure enough to form a bond with anyone. :hit

I would talk to the owner if the dog was leaving the property. I was meaning that an awful lot of people don't care that their dog barks all day, talking to them wouldn't go anywhere. People up the hill from us have a dog that barks a LOT. They just yell at it to shut up, if they are home. They are over 200 yards from us so it is just mildly annoying. It would be intolerable in the old neighborhood with houses 8'-10' apart.
