The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Prescious! My son with spina Bifida walked with a walker first. Was pretty excited to start on those crutches! Older now, is in a wheelchair. He does well getting around!

It is so sweet how excited she got! And I think I remember reading some of your posts about your son on the prayer thread. He seems like an awesome man.

We had a hummingbird in the house in Canada! Try catching one of those!

We always have a wreath of some sort hanging on the front porch. The Carolina wrens like to roost in them. Several times one has made it's way into the house when the door is opened in the evening. Princess does not like flying things. :lau

Sounds like quite a boy Cynthia. :weeDoes he have racing stripes on his wheel chair? How old is he now?
He's in his 30's now. He isn't getting the expensive chairs now, with colors. Has found that the cheaper ones last longer! Here he is at Christmas with us. Loves hats.

neither do I Sour. The zoo has a open sided huge area for various birds and water fowl they pretty much stay inside the bounds - because the rest of the building is darkened.

When the big birds start flapping and zooming around, I want OUT of there immediately.
I think it was from seeing "The Birds," movie when I was young.

MIL had a parakeet 'Chippy' who would periodically escape his cage and fly around the house with MIL screaming, "Don't let him get tangled in your hair." She also accused bats and dragon flies of wanting to 'get tangled in your hair'. MIL used to clean Chippy's cage with a vacuum cleaner. One day he got sucked up - Bye Chippy. :frow

There's only 1 other province and 3 territories.
Evidently there's another holiday being added in either June or October to honour First Nations and recognize the strife that they've been through. The big issue going on right now is the Residential Schools. Up until the late 60s kids were being ripped from their homes, put in these schools/ orphanages and forced to completely forget about their heritage.
It was like that back when I was a kid. The kids would be forced to walk the white road as soon as they were old enough for 1st grade. Many had to leave home, learn English and not allowed to speak in their Native tongues. It caused lot of mental and emotional hardship. It finally stopped in the 60s. Lot of damage done to their culture.

We are missing Blooie again?!

More drama here. :barnie Because the potential buyer had objected to something we had to reply and then give them 5 working days to reply to what we said (even though their objection was to something that wasn't actually in the conditions). Our lawyer wrote a very pointed email on Monday and sent it to their lawyer saying it wasn't a valid justification for holding everything up. We finally heard today (Wednesday for us) that they have decided to go ahead and have gone unconditional. So in 6 weeks we are out of here and will be living in a caravan on my parents 10 acres up north, which is very close to my sisters so our kids can play with their cousins lots. Then we can all calm down and figure the rest of it out. DH has not been coping (he does suffer from depression every now and then) and he hasn't been able to have a holiday in a very long time as his work is always short staffed, and last time he did take a holiday they were constantly calling and emailing him! So he really needs to just stop and remember how to relax.

Meanwhile, in the aviary, one of our young cockatiel pairs have made a nest under the cages that have the finches in them (as they can't mix with cockatiels). I thought they were just playing house, but the hen laid some eggs. I checked them a week ago and thought they weren't fertile as they looked clear. I checked again yesterday to find 3 out of the 4 are definitely fertile so in 10 days to 2 weeks they will have babies - on the floor of the aviary! I'm not quite sure what to do but don't want to disturb them at this point. Hopefully when the chicks hatch we'll have a better chance of getting everyone to move house into a proper nest box. It does kind of complicate things as the babies will be about a month old when we move (provided they do end up hatching). At least we can move all the birds a few days before we have to get out.

It's going to be our great adventure, that's for sure!
:wee:yesss:
I'm so glad that it's finally sold!

Even though moving is stressful, it must be a huge load off of your shoulders.
