Agreed, 6 weeks is too young, 8 minimum. And for working LGDs, 12 is much better.

Yeah, exactly. Technically they’re weaned by then but they learn sooo much from their mother and especially their siblings during those last two weeks. Things like bite inhibition for example cause they really start playing hard and learning those last few weeks.

Lol! There's no puppy police here!

Ah okay, I just know here it is the law the have to be 8 weeks. But I know not every state has that. But I do think it is better for the puppies to wait. They learn a lot of important social skills and other stuff those last couple weeks

I wasn't really happy that they're placing them so young, but they opted not to keep them with the dam, and wont hold her past next weekend. If I want her I have to get her when they say. I'm just happy to get a pup.

I'm a vet tech...I know this. She will have an adult dog to teach her to dog.

Any particular reason why they are rehoming them so early? Even if they have her away from the dam, they learn a lot from their siblings around then, but if they won’t hold her then I suppose you don’t have a choice. I just think it’s odd they want her gone so fast and don’t have the best interest of the pups in mind. But of course that is not your fault at all and I think she will be fine. Especially since you do have another dog that can teach her about bite inhibition and social skills.

Sorry, forgot you were a vet tech. That is good you have another dog!! I think it will be fine since you are clearly experienced and you do have another dog. I think that will make up for it. I think dogs that get rehomed early AND have no other dogs to teach them can sometimes have issues but since she does have another dog to teach her, I think she will be fine. She is adorable.

Never had "bite" problems with the Cockers - but, they wouldn't stand up to bad guys :hmm

Idk if it’s true or not but I read that dogs that were taken away too early and/or never had other dogs to teach them can sometimes have issues such as biting too hard because they never learned how not to (littermates yelp, they learn how hard they can bite before it hurts, I am sure you and everyone else knows this) and some other stuff. But it might not be every dog and with other dogs to teach them, I think the effects are less. And yeah, I don’t think Libby and Franklin would either. Well, maybe. But unlikely. Ha they’d probably be excited about the new friend!! :lau
