That’s entirely up to you, Kelsey. I really can’t tell you which one to get or how to get it. But I really loved that Rav, and if it would have accommodated Kendra’s updated wheelchair you can believe that I’d still have it! I joke that we got the van because Fiona outgrew it, but all kidding aside she did just fine with the seats folded down, and would have continued to be just fine. Gotta admit, it was fun driving around with her back there - the shock value when people saw this giant dog taking up the back of the Rav was always good for a laugh. But the wheelchair was the decision maker, and I can’t say enough good things about the Rav we had. Brought it brand new in 2017 and you know how much long distance traveling we do and what my physical issues are. I was always quite comfortable.
Yeah, sorry, that was probably way too much of an open ended question, way too subjective and highly dependent on situation, but figured I’d at least try to get some different opinions to help make the decision. Definitely comes down to me though in the end. But it sounds like you really liked the car!! I think I possibly need to do some more research into the different options and maybe some test driving different ones. But of course, as you probably know, test drives don’t really tell you much, because the car can be great for a few minutes but maybe seriously sucks for long distance. But I think I still need to sit in some. We actually were considering a Rav before we got the Outback. I can’t really remember why we decided on one over the other. But I think it may have had to do with the safety features or because we had a Subaru before. Granted, a seriously old and on it’s last legs one, but still. I know that it was very close though. I don’t do too many long distance trips right now, mostly a lot of around town and highway, but I want to start doing more long trips. And we do take it whenever we go on a longer trip, like my brother’s have taken it skiing some, or to PA. I guess mostly because it is the newest, roomiest, and best on gas mileage. I will say the Outback is pretty roomy. But from what I have read, so are the Ravs? I just think I need something a bit more comfortable on long distance trips because I plan on doing a lot more long distance trips this year and next. And you guys definitely have anyone beat for most long distance trips I think so if you guys have used the Rav that much with no issues, then I think that is most definitely a good sign. And of course it fits the horse/moose dog in it!! Not that I plan on getting a horse moose dog anytime soon but if I ever drive Libby and Franklin around, which I sometimes too, especially now that we’ve been doing training outings more, or if I get my own dog or foster eventually, it will need to fit a dog or two in the back. But I mostly just care about comfort, good sound/stereo system (I listen to a lot of music), roominess (being 5’ 11”) although I guess that kind of fits under comfort), and of course durability and safety. I guess a lot of cars fit that bill but when we got the Subaru, we did a lot of research and I had it pretty well narrowed down to an Outback or a Rav but we went with the Outback obviously. I also tend to bring home chicken feed and shavings/other supplies in it so if it has room for that, that’s great, but we do also have another bigger car that can take all that instead. I just would hate to wear the car out. Also, probably stupid question, but I assume since it can hold your moose, it can comfortably fit 2 medium-large size dogs in the back? Libby is around 75-80 pounds and Franklin is around 55-60 pounds. I think he recently hit 60. But he is still small and cute.
