The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

:celebrate Good MORNING! This is your Cowley AM news.....if we can’t provide the real deal, we’ll make it up to start your day off right!

Town shop employees yesterday worked round the clock - well, from 2 in the afternoon until 6 last evening anyway - trying to get the skeeter control truck’s sprayer working correctly. Seems the doohickey that disburses the spray evenly has gone missing, and Search and Rescue has sent out search parties, to no avail. Several alternative parts were tried in the sprayer, including the little thingamajig from a Windex bottle. Although it fit, a trial run showed that it would only aim the spray at windows of the homes it passed as it went down the street. The next attempt was the sprayer thingy from a can of polish remover. We haven’t seen the Debowskies since. This sprayer is essential to the town of Cowley and the mayor is asking that all residents check under any remaining snow piles to see if it might simply be buried, along with the soda cans and candy wrappers that make their annual spring appearance as the snow melts.
Remember, this sprayer is a vital part of the night life in Cowley, as evidenced by the number of good citizens who sit out on their porches on Tuesday and Friday nights to watch Dexter spray for skeeters. We cannot turn the Skeeter Spraying into a festival to attract tourists if we can’t control the skeeters or the sprayer.

In other news, the Crosby’s ran their twice-a-year cattle parade down Main Street a couple of weeks ago. There is still some fertilizer available for pickup at no charge, if citizens would like to help themselves. If they opt for the supply at the curbs, a simple pickup truck and a shovel will be all each person needs. For the fertilizer left in the street itself, they may need an ice chipper as well...it’s pretty well flattened by now. Our on-the-scene reporter has video of the event, to be shown at the end of this broadcast.

In sports, nothing happened.

Our weather for the weekend promises to be just beaut-ee-ful, and we all know about weather’s promises in Wyoming. So this reporter urges folks to make an early trip to the Red Apple grocery store, where you’ll find everything under one roof except the prices, which are through the roof. If it’s a sunny 50 degrees this weekend, with winds calm at 60, there will likely be a run on meats and deli salads as the populace fires up their grills and smokers. If it’s snowy and 10 degrees, with winds calm at 60, they’ll be looking for supplies to survive. Either way, a weekend run on the grocery store is always an accurate prediction.

And that’s the morning news from Cowley, where “Welcome to Cowley, Wyoming” and “Now Leaving Cowley, Wyoming” are painted on the same sign.....and on the same side. Proudly sponsored by the Cowley Merc, where you can fill up your car and yourself with gas in one stop, by the Waterhole Bar, which we’re sure will re-open before the end of the decade, and by the Cowley Post Office, whose motto is “Don’t worry, you’ll get it eventually.” Have a doggone good day, and here’s that video for you.

blooie, i love it, and love the two dogs doing their job:love:love

Duh! Do I feel silly - I knew the plan was fix it up and sell it. Don’t know why I thought you’d live there for a time, guess in all the excitement of the dramatic changes in the house I got caught up and forgot. Another year then hopefully Cody, right? Lots of doctors, dentists, an urgent care clinic and a really good hospital there!

Sad news. No chicks. Had to cancel the order yesterday. Still just too many things popping up to fill the blank spaces in the calendar. We talked it over when we were driving home from Sheridan and since he is staying on as Grand Recorder, plus Grand Secretary of York Rite Council snd Chapter for one more year, our schedule will slow down some but not stop. Reality stinks. We kinda promised each other that next spring we’ll start over, but I think we both see the writing on the wall and it just might not happen at all. I guess I’m okay with that - disappointed to say the least but at least I’m not stomping my feet and holding my breath until I turn purple so that must mean something.
:hugs

I can darn sure find out, Debby!!

Decided to take an “us” day today. We’re going through Cody now and I’m taking a video from one end of town to the other. I’ll post them when we get home. Got Fee with us and we’re gonna run up the North Fork for some photos. The Big Horn Sheep and elk are supposed to be all over the place and the bears are waking up, so we thought we’d pack a lunch, grab the cameras, and do some exploring.
