The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Here it’s not unusual to get a foot of snow in May! One year our last snowfall (4.5 inches) fell on June 6th.

Oh wow!! That is late for snow!! At least here. I do not envy you lol although we still have snow in our yard but it is rapidly melting. But just last week FSIL came over to get some eggs and couldn’t believe how much snow we still had!! One whole hill was still covered and half the bottom one but now it’s mostly melted, only like half or less of the one hill and one tiny little patch on the other one. But that was only Thursday she was here so it’s melted pretty fast. But considering no one else has any snow, it’s a lot. But the area where it is is practically full shade so that’s why. The back was already totally melted cause it’s full sun. I’m taking bets for if that patch will last into April. I’m hoping it does since it’s lasted this long already. :lau :fl it has lasted that long before. But it was colder then.

At the moment it IS a lake! Probably a very shallow one.

Yep, got a nor'easter Friday night into Saturday. Heavy wet stuff.

Very true!! I am surprised they are even allowed to plant on it, here it would probably be considered wetlands or a vernal pool and protected or something.

Oh wow!! Is it common to get snow storms so late up there??

sorry Bruce - heavy , wet snow is no one's favorite:tongue

X2

Nope. But it will melt, same as the snow before it. We had pretty much no snow except at the edges of the fields Friday morning.

Hope it melts quickly!!

Hope you feel better soon.

Prepare for cuteness!

It's obviously hard work being so cute, don't you think?!

DD came up with awesome names for them today. The darker one is Dusk and the lighter one is Dawn.

Hope you can get some sleep @KDOGG331 and it might pay to go to the doctor. If you don't like what one says get a second opinion. My DH is on anti depressants but the one the doctor put him on is a stimulant (information that wasn't passed on, if the doctor even knew!), and he never specified what time of day to take it. So DH has been taking it at night and wondering why he can't sleep, even when the doctor prescribed sleeping pills! He was getting really bad so I told him to go back to the doctor. He got seen by someone who specialises in depression/anxiety who explained that it was a stimulant so it needed to be taken in the morning and that the dose should've been increased after 3 days (and that he should take a whole sleeping pill, not half like the other doctor suggested). DH is now on a different drug (not the cheap, generic one the government subsidises) so hopefully he'll do better on them. He's had one good nights sleep but after almost 8 weeks of not sleeping he's got a lot to catch up on! So keep asking until someone figures out what's going on. :hugs

Morning folks :frow

Jae they are too cute :love Love seeing the pix

DMC so sorry for all the water :hugs

KD get some sleep and follow Jae's advice :hugs There's something up with that. Could be ent or dental related.

Thank you so much everyone!! I appreciate it!! :hugs the odd thing is that it is so off and on. Like for instance, even though it hurt so bad last night, I feel fine today. :idunno But I am still planning on making some doctors appointments and getting it figured out. I hope they can figure it out. I tried saying a while ago I seemed to get headaches a lot and they were like oh it’s normal to get them before/around that time.. I didn’t say anything but was thinking like yes... but I get them more often than that.... not only then... it was a nurse who said it though, not the doctor, and they weren’t quite as bad then, are worse now. Should probably go back but I’m always worried they’re gonna think I’m lying or otherwise brush it off. But I think I am going to do what Jae says and keep going back until they take it seriously. My current doctor is actually pretty good but I just never actually tell him anything/stand up for myself and really say the full extent of what’s going on so it’s not really their fault, can’t help if they don’t know. But I am thinking I am going to actually be more detailed and assertive this time.

Yep!

Sorry about the snow Bruce! We still have lots but not by the house. It was cool to see all those birds if you can find a positive for the water :th

:hugs

Thanks Sean! Bring on the heat!

Last time we got snow in May was 1994 I believe and it dumped on us. We got a blizzard last April 14th. I hope we are done for the year.

Sorry!!:hugs

Thank you! It will go away eventually....

Thanks Bob!

This field is usually the last one planted but it might be fall this year before anything is done. We’ve got the paperwork done to put it into CRP so there will be no corn or soybeans planted, just grasses and flowers or whatever is allowed.

I thought it was Crop Reimbursement Program, were they pay you not to grow any crops... also called, 'layout land'.
ETA- that's the way it is here in Texas.

Maybe your right...used to be Conservative Reserve.

Very interesting.

Good point.
My biggest concern is the amount he eats. Some days he'll only eat a cup of food. I've tried numerous different brands, adding canned food and goat's milk.
He is still in tact, specifically for the growth issues. I won't have him fixed until he's at least 2.

FSIL recently had the same concern with Franklin because he has been skipping breakfast/some meals lately and hasn’t been growing, been at the same weight a while, so she asked the vet when they were there for some ear thing and she was like you know, he really hasn’t been eating and he’s not growing at all and I’m worried, etc. and the vet was like well he is eating something every day, right? And FSIL was like yeah and the vet was like well then don’t worry, as long as he is getting something in him every day. So I bet it is the same for Bingo. As long as he is eating and growing, I wouldn’t be too concerned. And honestly I think it’s an LGD thing too. Or maybe just LGD male because Libby doesn’t seem to have this problem but Franklin is sooo picky as was Gator. And they liked to eat at certain times. They seem to know when they are hungry or not. Gator was free fed so he just ate when he was hungry and often I was concerned he was barely eating but it was enough for him. Franklin and Libby they have a schedule but lately they’ve been skipping breakfast so they sometimes leave it out and Franklin prefers lunch and dinner over breakfast and dinner and will eat lunch after playing and walking lol they know how to self regulate and when they are hungry or not so as long as he is eating something, I wouldn’t try to force him to eat more.

And yeah, they are going to wait until at least a year (June) but I think possibly 18 months or two years. They were going to wait 18 months but are concerned about boarding for the honeymoon in September but I told them I would watch him. They didn’t want to bother/burden me since it would be like a whole week but I don’t want him neutered too early just because of that.

KD, I tend to drive doctors, especially young ones, nuts. I re-define the relationship on day one. Most important is I'll refer to them by their first name, second I'm in charge doc is just an adviser and finally he works for me and not the insurance company. I've fired more than one because they couldn't get on board with the program.

KD/Michelle, as for the eating thing, I see the same behavior in Todd, but I also see him foraging a bit while he's out on patrol. He'll eat plants and grasses and what ever else he defines a food. He'll generally eat first thing in the morning when he comes in, and he'll want in at different times of day to grab a bite and then head back out.

Sharron please (have mercy) send your husband to cut mine PLEASE!! He can do it twice a month or once every 2 mos. I don't care. Plus he needs to bring his own mower or tractor.:bow
sorry dd, but i couldn't do without him, its the way he was raised, his momma wouldn't let him be a boy, he had to work around the place to get money then when he was done he could take the money and walk to the swimming pool to swim(summer of course), so now he mows the lawn one a week and the pasture every couple of months, or whenever it needs it, he hoes the garden some every day when we have one, in other words the man doesn't know how to relax. hes a great man
