My Pyrenees would catch rabbits and bring home roadkill. Plus the neighbor fed him scraps. He never pestered my rabbits though. Didn't eat much dog food.

Hawkmoth seemed happier with Chilly back by her side (not that that stopped her putting him in his place if she thought he stepped out of line), and she went back to feeding the little ones just fine.
X2 George is a great quail dog...er, umm spent quail feed eater! My dog will not leave the wasted quail food alone!

Good to hear that he was better! You may have to do the separation thing a few times but maybe just need to keep your eyes on him instead. I cant believe how the babies change from day t ohhh day! I see tails already! So cute!Today Hawkmoth wasn't really feeding the little ones and Chilly was zooming back and forth across the cage, desperate to come out. I let him out to feed them then took them inside for a little while. Later we took them back out and spent ages watching him like a hawk. A couple of times he went to preen them so we'd just push him away and distract him the instant he showed any interest in that, and touch wood he hasn't plucked any more feathers, despite him being in with the babies for most of the day. Some people say plucking can be a salt deficiency, or an iodine deficiency. DH got me an iodine supplement block for birds yesterday and I'd left that with him in the cage yesterday afternoon. He had nibbled on it so maybe that was the cure. I'll be keeping a very close eye on him and I've been checking them constantly today. Fingers crossed we have nipped it in the bud - I'm cautiously optimistic.Hawkmoth seemed happier with Chilly back by her side (not that that stopped her putting him in his place if she thought he stepped out of line), and she went back to feeding the little ones just fine.
Now for cute photos:

There is such a difference between Dawn and Dusk's pearling. It will be interesting to see if Dusk's spots get any bigger as s/he grows.

Morning Bob!
Jae, your babies are really growing! At about what age do they eat on their own?
