What side of the heating pad are you supposed to have up? Or does it not matter? Want to make sure I have the correct side facing the littles!! Making a new MHP tonight since idk what happened to my old one.

I always use the printed side down, right at the level of the chicks’ backs. It is definitely the warmer side - on my heating pad, anyway,

The printed side is supposedly a bit warmer but it really doesn't matter.

You are insulting our Kendra??? :smack
;)

:hugs

Wow. You sure she hasn't been painting in the closet for a few years?

She's got 28 years to paint before she catches up to how old Grandma Moses was when she started.

Sure glad none of those branches found their way into the trailer. Do you make sure to say "shields up" before the wind really starts cranking?

Sorry, Kendra! I know you’d do better than Gramma, Kendra!

I’ll be sure Tam hears the kind responses to her painting. She still refuses to call it “art” - she thinks it’s still too “stiff and forced” to be art. I think it’s amazing. And nope, she has never painted anything besides the walls of her house before! I forgot two of earlier ones from a couple of weeks ago....her beach and her waterfall. She doesn’t like the waterfall, and I’m not crazy about it, either. But it’s hers and she painted it, so I included it.

"I may not know much about art but I know what I like."

If that waterfall was after 2 weeks of "practice" I think she should be pretty darn proud of it!!!! I'll go head to head with you on who can make the worst art while actually trying to make something people would recognize ;)

I read this somewhere and it stuck with me...can't remember the whole poem but this is the jist of it - "Can't is the father of feeble endeavor, the parent of terror and half-hearted work..."

How do you KNOW you have no talents?

Well, the choir director in church asking me to mouth the words sort of convinced me that I shouldn't sing.

Four years of high school art where everything I did looked like crap convinced me that my hands could not recreate what I could see.

Every time I have tried to sing I sound like a dying seal :lau although I have discovered I sound slightly better doing rock songs lol

Thanks!! Very helpful!! Pad on the inside or outside? I think I had it on the outside of the frame last time and I think that’s what you did, right? But then I was reading something that said they put it on the bottom/inside so they could touch their backs to it?

It’s up to you, Kelsey. Many people have switched to using small bungee cords to attach the pad to the underside of the frame because of reports of chicks getting trapped. I did it that way the last batch, but I’ll probably go back to the old way next batch.

Okay, thanks! I am sure I will figure something out! I actually think I have it mostly figured out. And I think I did read about bungee cords but I am paranoid they will somehow get trapped on the bungee cords or burn themselves on the pad. Any particular reason for going back to the other way? Or you just like it better?
