The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Yes I'm still liking it. Some days are more than a little frustrating, but then that's why work is a four letter word. :gig The most difficult and frustrating task I have is to train the person who trained me, how to do things correctly. I spent months cleaning up the messes she made and then went external to find folks to teach me how not to make the mess. They've recently transitioned me into a new role which includes being her mentor.:th
How is she taking it? Is she appreciative or bitter?

The other day CJ was cooking up some eggs. She picked one up and it exploded in her hand. There was an almost fully developed chick in there and a lot of green goo. :sick still trying to get the smell out of here.
Takes days/weeks to clear out that smell. Took nearly six months to get it out of the bator.

Thank goodness for Odoban. That stuff is just awesome. I was sooo excited when it finally came to Canada last year. I brought about 6 gallons with me when i moved back to Canada. I was just about out when Home Depot brought it in as a 1 time buy. I bought 4 gallons and was just about out when it finally hit our market.

Lucky for me , Home Hardware carries it exclusively, & that's where I work, so I get a staff discount.

Good morning! And happy birthday @Meg-in-MT!! :wee

Hope everyone is feeling better this morning - we’ve certainly had our share of illnesses, treatments, tests, and recoveries lately!

Cynthia, Kendra’s doing okay, thanks. Still seizing, but not as frequently. Yesterday marked her first full day with no Kepra and a full dose of Depakote in addition to her Lamactil and Onfi. She was here all day and had one of the worst seizures I’ve seen so far, but she recovered quickly and it was just the one instead if the multiples she usually has. But we did have one breakthrough and it was a biggie.....I was prepping her lunch and she came into the kitchen carrying a catheter. “Time a cath,” she said. I’d planned to let her eat and then cath, but she wanted to cath right then. So we did. “All done wi’ a cath,” she said with a big smile when we finished. Yeah, I’ll bet she did feel better after removing almost 400ml of bladder contents!! Wow! She KNEW that she was uncomfortable and she KNEW what had to be done to fix it! Smart kid!!

I’m sorry that Richard is having problems. That young man is so active I can see why you’re concerned about the weight gain. He has certainly
had more than his share of UTIs and kidney issues! Kendra has only had one UTI since she had the Mitrofanoff surgery done, and it wasn’t too bad compared to those she used to get before. And fortunately her antibiotic knocked it out pretty quickly, but I can’t remember which one it was.

The girls start school today. Katie had her orthodontic checkup yesterday and they can stop adjusting her palate expander now. She just has to keep wearing it for another month until the broken bones in her palate heal completely. Her next appointment will be for her actual braces. Oh, and did I mention that she’s going to school with pink hair? <sigh> One of the ladies at Grand Lodge is a cosmetologist and a colorist. She did Katie’s hair for formal night. Anyway, Jen told her that Katie wanted to color her hair and Kathie was strongly against it because of the texture of Katie’s hair. It’s wirey, tightly curled almost to the point of forming dreadlocks every morning, and not only would it be the wrong thing for Katie’s hair because it would end up so dry it would look like pink fuzz, but the kind of coloring they were thinking about is the one that is so pretty when the hair is like a straight, shiny waterfall and not stiffly curly..... Apparently Jenny wasn’t in on the same conversation Katie and I were there for and she did it anyway. Now, I know it’s just hair, and I know it’s none of my business, but the lady Jenny took her to for her hair trim told them the same thing. So Jenny bought some junk at Walgreens and did it at home - and she only did the back! Katie hates it but won’t tell her mom that, Jenny thinks it’s adorable, and I’m biting my tongue.

Today I tackle the pit of doom - Ken’s office. I’ve been asking him for two years to clean it. It’s a total disaster. It’s so bad that for two years his computer and all of his junk has migrated to take up half of my kitchen. He does all of his Grand Secretary/Recorder, Grand Master stuff at the kitchen table and the window ledge looks like crap. I’m over it! It’s pretty bad when he has an office that’s so cluttered with junk he can’t use it. If he’s not gonna use it, I will. I’ll put a little bed in there so the kids have a place to sleep when they’re here, and I’ll put my computer in there. This is stupid! I’m a neat freak, he’s a hoarder. I want my kitchen back - all of it - but I’ll settle for whatever I get at this point. If I’m not out of there by Saturday, send search and rescue please.

Just in case you thought I was kidding..and I’m posting full sized to give you the joys of the full effect. <sigh>

The closet in his office - he had to take the doors off because it is so overflowing.

The kitchen. One half is mine from the plant to the far right in the photo - check out his half.

That white cabinet holds my mixing bowls, measuring cups, pie pans, etc. I have to ask him to move out of his chair every time I need something. The box is full and overflowing with “important” papers. There are even papers on the hutch part.

And the office, in all it’s gory glory.

This is insane!

Morning everyone, running a bit late today. Was up extra late last night, but it's ok, I'm off work today.

Michelle, exploding egg? Yuck! :sick Thanks for the photo of Bingo, he's a cute guy.

DMC, hope the extra help takes some of the load off you. Enjoy your upcoming camping trip!

Bob, sounds like an uncomfortable work situation mentoring. But I have no doubt you'll be able to make it work.

Blooie, looks like you have your work cut out for you with the clean up! It also looks like my DH's modus operandi. And WTG Kendra with the breakthrough!
