The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

hi sean:frow

Nope, gonna be a long night! :(
And yep, just walking out the door. Talk ta y'all later. Have a pleasant night. :)

@drumstickdiva and @KDOGG331 feel better! That's an order!:hugs

@CapricornFarm that and mandatory overtime. It makes working more like being in the military.

I've been outside all afternoon working on a brick walkway that we are installing off our deck stairs. We have naturally occuring sand back in our timber so DH trundled the tractor back and hauled 3 bucket loads back for the foundation. I'm smoothing it out, leveling and laying the bricks which is just plain mind numbing tedious since they laid the lifting restrictions on me and I can't shovel or lift more than 15-20 pounds.:rantI've never handled restrictions well tho so lots of inventing of new swear words as I shove sand around to where it's supposed to go by hand. I just keep telling myself I'm spending a day at a beach and building flat sand castles.

All the talk about golf tournaments reminds me of the time DH was invited to play golf with a bunch of his doctor buddies. I mean that's what doctors do after all, well, except for my Doctor Honey husband that is who has never been a fan of the sport.. Still he graciously accepted and showed up at the country club on his motorcycle, his one and only golf club with an adjustable face, 1 tee and a golf ball. He said after a while he had to borrow another tee and another golf ball as he lost his.

Eventually they stopped inviting him.

would love some cucumbers, mine were killed by beetles, had to start new plants and they're not old enough to produce yet

Sorry about your plants. :( my squash isn’t doing so hot right now but still producing some. Nowhere near as much as it did at first though.

Anyway, my cucumbers are starting to produce like crazy! It’s mostly been like one or two, maybe 3, a week, now today I got all those! Of course some probably weren’t quite ready yet, a little small, but still. The other day I got a freaking HUGE one that I must’ve missed because it’s literally like zucchini sized lol not sure what I’ll do with that one. Maybe make pickles.

Anyway, it was mostly one plant at first that was producing all the cucumbers but now the other ones are starting to take off too finally. I have 4 plants.

Anyway, feel free to take as many cucumbers as you want!! I definitely have more than enough to share!! Haha

if you were closer i would take you up on your offer but unfortunately you're too far away. you could always keep it for seeds if its too big to eat, thinking i will try that this year if i get some big ones, i always keep my tomato seeds every year and sometimes i get green beans, just anything that might go to seed for me, tomatoes, peppers, beans etc
also been canning and freezing this year cause i'm getting low on garden foods
forgot to say, canned a few quarts of whole tomatoes yesterday and husband helped me today put another ten quarts up( he squished them for me in the pot and lifted the pot on the stove) tomorrow i have another half bushel to do, he'll help again, tomatoes are to hard for my hands to squish

I wish I was closer then so you could have some haha I suppose they’d get damaged in the mail? :lau

That’s a good idea. I didn’t think of that. I might keep it then and use it for that.

That sounds awesome! I want to try to make pickles this year and maybe some other stuff. Never canned anything before.

mil taught me starting in 1970, she always canned and froze veggies and fruits to save money, not to mention that they tasted better than anything she could buy at the store, she even canned meat, beef, pork and chicken when pap got out of the service after the war, they didn't have much money, pap worked three jobs so they could buy this place so needless to say, it also saved money in those days
its a good thing to know, just in case something happens and you can't afford to buy at the store, if you have canned from your garden, you won't go hungry
ok, going to take a shower and hit the hay, 5 am comes early night:frow
