Good morning!
Guess what I've been doing this morning? I've been out prepping the coop for our 15 new chicks scheduled to be shipped Sept. 3. That's like next week! The coop and run have been untended totally since two years ago this month, so there's a lot of cleaning up to do out there! Since I have no other birds this time around, they'll brood right in the coop instead of in the run as in years past. Gonna set up MHP right under the outlet and let 'em have full run of the coop after the first couple of days they go out. Until then, I'll block off the area in around the heating pad and their food and water before they get to explore their new digs. We'll follow our usual procedure - a couple of days in the house to watch for shipping stress, make sure they understand the MHP system to get warm, and are eating and drinking. After that, out they go!!
Should be a joke trying to get Fiona to learn to leave them alone. She's my only concern, being a sight hound bred for chasing. Molly (rest her little English Setter soul) trained herself. Fiona ain't that bright. But she'll get a firm reprimand if she goes near them when they're still in the house, and we'll carry that through after they go outside.

I got:
3 Light Brahmas
2 Easter Eggers
1 Crested Cream Legbar
1 Brown Leghorn
2 Speckled Sussex
2 Wellsummers
2 Partridge Plymouth Rocks
