The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

But at least you got something accomplished today! I didn’t.

You will be.....might not be as soon as either of us want, but it’ll happen. :hugs

Kelsey, I was 15 years old, just months before I met Ken, before Ma ever bought a pack of hamburger or hot dog buns! Oh, we’d stop at McDonald’s once in very rare while, but we ate a lot of burgers at home, and we always ate them on bread. I remember that when money was really tight, she’d cook the burger patties, and then slice them in half like you’d slice a block of cheese or a cake layer or a layer cake - horizontally through the middle, making two thin burgers. But between two slices of bread, with ketchup, mustard, mayo and garden fresh lettuce, tomatoes and onions, we still got plenty to eat. Dad, of course, always got a full burger. Two in fact. And it was the same with hot dogs - she’d split them and fry them in the cast iron skillet. We’d put them on a slice of bread, roll it up, and chow down.
You’ve been flying by the seat of your pants the last year...time for a break:hugs
Confession time: When he gave me my diamond, I said, “I’m not in love with you. I’m not even sure what that means. But if it’ll get me out of this town, I’ll go.” When we actually got married 11 months later, I still wasn’t sure, but my parents and siblings didn’t know that. He did. But he said later that the second day we spent together after we met, while we were at a family friend’s house, we were all having some sort of discussion....neither of us recall what it was now....and he realized that he was sitting with a girl who could carry on an intelligent and enjoyable conversation. He said I was also the first thing he’d seen with round eyes in a year. What a way to start a marriage, huh?
And here you are almost 52 years later:)
