Thank you!! That makes sense. I will try that. Do you think traps might work or not usually? DB & FSIL’s wedding is next week so I’d like to get them gone as soon as possible and not have smelly dead rats when family comes to visit if that makes sense haha

they would work at least one, rats are very intelligent, sometimes you can catch two but its buddys learn real fast

i used to have a little dog that was a holey terror on mice and rats, if one got into the house, she had it and killed it, she always went to the barn with me to hunt mice, she even caught a muskrat one time

Found some DCON poison/traps and Tomcat but only for MICE! No rat traps. May have to go to TSC tomorrow. Did find this though. Gonna try it. And maybe my dad will have some traps somewhere hah

They did have glue traps but I think those are cruel even for pests like rats so didn’t get any. Also even their pest section in general is TINY. Idk how they could have like nothing!?

Some folks that have Jack Russell and other rat terrier breeds- have clubs were they go out and prove/ train them. Sometimes they are eager to find work for the dogs and will bring them to someone's farm/ranch/etc.

You can find threads online of them doing their job with great vigor. The pace is frenetic.
They bite a rat, shake it and toss the body aside. People will lift boards etc., exposing more rats and the dogs get to'em!

Not for the weak hearted but the dogs LOVE their work.

Tempted to jokingly ask on FB if anyone has a terrier I can borrow but my mom would probably kill me if I said we had rats at our house on my FB
