The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Glad you and yours are ok Kelsey.

Thank you Pert!! Apparently it was quite a crazy night and my dad couldn’t believe I slept through it. :lau

I guess the whole house was shaking. And he thought a tree was going to fall on it or already had because of she shaking but thankfully not.

We are on the coast so get hit harder than more inland towns. Although they got more rain.

Alright, storm damage pics. Sorry if they’re out of order at all and sorry there’s so many haha

I should have gotten pictures of the harbor, damaged docks/ramps, boats on the marsh, etc. but didn't think of it.

Also gave the girls a bunch of rotten wood and raked up some leaves and leaf litter/pine needles/forest floor and put a couple barrelfuls of that in there too. They LOVED it haha happy as clams.

There’s some pictures of that in here too.

Gonna get a wood chipper next week and cut down and chip up a bunch of the baby pine trees and put that in the run and then more leaves and such. Planning on starting deep litter in the run. Also gonna expand the run at some point but not sure when.

But yeah.

Also some more details cause not sure I said some of this before. But there’s tons of branches and/or trees down everywhere. Tilted/slanted/heavily leaning telephone poles and trees too. Even a broken pole that somehow was still standing. Plenty of split trees too. Like split down the middle/half the tree split off or one branch but the rest fine, etc. huge branches down. Fences down.

Also the harbors were a mess. Docks broken, loose docks floating, scrap wood/parts of the docks everywhere, dinghies on the rocks/parking lot.

Also another road near the beach, there’s lots of inlets/river/marsh/bay and there were multiple boats, including a couple small sailboats, stuck on the marsh. Ramps flipped over. Even one whole pier broken/flipped over. This area has rich people who have their own docks going over the marsh with metal ramps/floating docks in the water part. So those were what was flipped. But one entire wooden pier, not just the ramp, was knocked down.

Also the tide line went across the street up into people’s yards. So HUGE tide/flooding apparently but all gone now.

High tide was right when the worst of the storm was hitting, around 2am, so that’s probably why it was so bad.

Also another harbor/bay, the tide was so high you could barely see the sea wall when we drove by earlier.

Everyone is STILL cleaning up. They say power outages are increasing again because another storm or rain or something is rolling in. They were decreasing but now increasing. So we may be without power a while.

Also, one of the oaks that came down, the bottom was completely rotted and FILLED with carpenter ants. We cut a bit of it up and cut right into the nest. They were none too happy haha it’s amazing how much damage those little tiny ants can do!! Had a couple other trees come down in the woods too.

Gave the chickens the rotted wood with the ants and bugs in it and they are in heaven. :lau

Sending great health vibes Sharon, hope they work. :hugs
thanks dd
i snuck outside this evening and fed my chickens(husbands been doing it) and was in the greenhouse watering a few plants and he caught me:eek: got hollered at but i was so tired of having to stay in, the fresh air altho cool, was so nice, then i went to the garden and picked a few beans, big peppers, jalapeno's and the last of the mustard greens, going to fix everything for dinner tomorrow, well, the jalapeno's and the mustard, just have to decide what meat to make with it, i can start it and husband can stir or turn them:lol:
