The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Lettin the pressure canner step scare me a little. I am going to do beans first... Most likely Black eyed peas with some Salt pork added.

I already water bath canned some Apple butter... Filled up twenty seven jars. 24 eight ounce jelly jars and three half pints. Double stacked my bit soup pot but still had to do the Half Pints separate.

Most I will be doing is half pints... I can always open two if I have company.

My last purchase was a Killer deal on Tuna... Albacore. I plan to do some Canned tuna hopefully soon. Little jars with a drizzle of olive oil and some spices varying from Red pepper to Aleppo pepper, Garlic, Dill, Zatar, and just plain. to test my new spices... Cant wait.

Aleppo pepper comes originally from Syria but its grown here... If I like It it will be one of my first plants.

Zatar comes from the middle east. It tastes like Tyme but it comes from a different plant. It also has Sumac and sesame.. Each blend is different like saying Curry.... Curry can be blended in so many ways.

I fall asleep pretty well but don't wake me up in the first 15 minutes or I'll be awake for hours. What also screws my sleep is if I wake up in the middle of the night and my mind is running. Can't go back to sleep.

That is good. He had a ton of stress with the weather this year, I'm not surprised he was a bit crabby.

We are supposed to get 10" Monday afternoon through Tuesday afternoon. I'm very willing to share a good amount of that before it hits the ground. DW has to be at work by 6:45 Tuesday. Guess I'll be getting up early, warming up the tractor and moving snow.

Then you need to sleep in your reading/TV chair!
That’s a lot of snow this early in the year. Hubby has his blower ready to go. Who knows what kind of winter we will all get.

That is for sure! Especially in November. Hopefully the weather gods will get it out of their system for awhile and not snow much the 2 weeks I'm in So. Cal. Leaving here on the 20th.

I hope it's not burning up when you get there Bruce. I can see it now...jumping from the snow to the fires.

Dad, sister and step-sister all live in the asphalt covered part of So. Cal. (which is a LOT of it). If there are any fires, they won't be directly in peril. Sister, niece and I are going to the Grand Canyon for a couple of days so we'll have to drive through some of the burn areas.

The Grand Canyon is awesome! Have you been before?

Glad to hear your family isn't in any danger.

Nope, lived in So. Cal. until I was 23 and have never been to any number of the western National Parks. I have been to Yosemite (WAY back when Mirror Lake was actually a lake and you didn't need to make a reservation in the first 10 minutes of January or whenever they do it. Just drive in, pick a spot, put up your tent and put money in the box every day) and Yellowstone as a teen.
