Those are cool!!! I love the last one what a beautiful animal. We have cotton tails that's about it for rabbits. But their are a lot of bird species around here. The reason why I thought desolate is probably because the image of a desert that Hollywood projects in your mind.
It sure sounds like a cool place to visit. I would never guess there was that many resources in the desert . That's a deep well I would guess you would have some pretty clean water coming out. I like that method the old timers use. You really do have to be in sync with your land!

Gawd they have those houses here... the house is built right on one of the fence lines... Three or four feet from the next house.... YOu cant park on the street and some of them the house has two entrances one for guests or a front door but the main entrance is from the garage.......Beautiful horses !!!!
I know it, my mother in law wants to move to the city where the houses are 3ft away. But my poor father in law loves the country all he does is out door stuff. I wonder if that's why she wants to move.? So when she presented her idea to him he's like "okay you are going im saying here".He wasn't completely serious but now she has finally stopped talking about moving.

There's no way I would even consider moving to Denver these days. Too many people, too much traffic, too much crime, crazy housing prices. No thanks!
We've looked for years in IM's area & found a lot of great stuff, but haven't had the nerve to move that far from the ocean. We've looked up in WA. I love that area, but anything within a reasonable commute is not cheap either. Mostly now I look around Atlanta, GA, but I'm sure I'll end up staying here.

Quite true... My land is in a smidgen of the Sonoran Desert. Which is a HUGE desert. Goes way down into Mexico and up into Arizona and parts of Texas I believe.
I have my live till I die location... nineteen acres that cannot be split.... a livable well. Isolation but I know um er used to know each of my neighbors. There is forty acres next to me and I dearly would love to buy that... Maybe some day. Solar power, Wind power and alternative power sources are feasable and very doable at home. I know enough about each Circa 2009 and 10 ...Believe me I hear that. Its not easy raising a family of 5 out here on a single income & we're very much on our own. DH is used to moving around a lot & he struggles with the crazy politics here. He's definitely ready to leave. My kids are 5th gen so cal born on my side & the sage/fennel/salty air is in our blood (tho I struggle with a lot of the politics too.)
My brother lives in your area & its only a 7hr drive for me unlike the 22hrs it takes me to get up to my mom & sister in OR. Heck, that's close enough that my brother drove out here to babysit for me once when I was in a pinch.

My grandpa traveled around the state building parts of that aqueduct. At the time it was about the only legit work you could get out here. Its a cool thing to be able to tell the kids when we're on road trips & keep crisscrossing it.
To say the least, no way.
