Deb, I'm wishing right now that I could load all my tools into my truck and come visit you.A quick update.
I found out my house was vandalized three years ago and no one told me. I been sobbing off and on for the past four days. Open to the elements the floors have water damage. I was told the furniture is gone and there are animal feces everywhere. And for what its worth No the house is not insured. Long story.
Not a good month February never has been for me. I got on Angies list and formulated a game plan while I researched handymen. I will have the house secured with plywood over the windows and sliding glass doors. And the Glass cleaned up.
I have chosen my Laundry room for setting up temporary living quarters. Its just off the car port and at grade level ... I still cant do stairs. But there are out lets in there to hook up necessary things like microwave and Hotwater for my tea.
The whole floor Throughout the house eventually will be pulled up including the sub floor which is OSB and when that gets wet... and Replaced with plywood. I can live with plywood till other repairs are completed and I can see how much money I have left.
The handyman called that I met at Home Depot opening up a contractors account. We are heading up to the house on Thursday. He lives only thirty miles from my place.
Tomorrow My son and I are heading up to the house so he can take pictures, and have a look in my bedroom. This way I can bawl my head off in front of my son instead of the Handy man.
At first I was hoping they hadnt taken my washer and dryer Stove and Waterheater as well as the pot belly. All can be replaced. Hoping to get the pantry built in the process. Kitchen cabinets will go when they do the floor rehab. I wanted them gone anyway. Particle board no drawers.
My left brain is saying "use this as an opportunity"
Opportunity:
My right brain is saying "I been raped how could they do such thing"
- to re configure the kitchen.
- to re do the front of the house.
- to set up the floors for Tile or Bamboo floors.
- to get good windows suitable for extreme climate.
- to get steps with a landing built from the laundry room to the living room.
