Interesting trip to the park. There was a runner there with 4 dogs off leash. She got off the main path into the soccer fields, but one dog thought it was a good idea to get aggressive towards the Princess and then came towards me. As the small dog got near me a large lab/chessy cross joined it and charged at me. I stood still and used my BIG voice, and they stopped a short distance from me. I will be carrying a heavy cane next time we go to the park. Several years ago a pair of staffordshire/pitt crosses came at me in the same park. I assured the owner that she had better control them - I had my cane at that time. Why do some think the rules don't apply to them ?

That's terrible! I've had to use my big voice on a straying dog before - it wasn't interested in me - it was going to have a piece of our dog. Scary!

Here there has been an increase in dog attacks because suddenly everyone is out walking their dogs at all hours (in the city at least).

A very good animal trainer here explained that dogs are picking up on their owners stress and are confused by the change in routine and the fact that people are now avoiding each other, so it automatically makes them more protective. So keeping them on a leash (and not one of those retractable ones) is your best way of avoiding a bad situation.

A cane or walking stick sounds like a good idea Sour. Glad you and the Princess weren't harmed.

Am I the only one that doesn't know what this is?

Good morning folks :frow

:frow Good morning Debby, have a great day

:frow Good morning IM, have a great day... Hop Tart is really cute.

Well, I went for feed yesterday... Took way longer than usual because the vast majority of the highway is 30mph right now due to tornado damage. My gas station is back open but still a lot of damage. It's amazing in a very sad way to see the destruction an EF4 can do.
It is good though that things are getting fixed there for you

I posted a while back about some older men here carrying a hockey stick with then on their walks. The silly people breaking the ordinance here about off leash dogs is one reason!

@sourland, might be a good idea NOT to hang a steak around your neck. just saying. :D

She's gorgeous. Our rabbits are going to be twins. Rex rabbits are not common in NZ. Mini ones, yes, but the bigger ones, no. I've always wanted a Rex so I'm thrilled to have found one.

I have no idea what one of those is (and I kinda get the impression I don't want to).

It will be interesting to see what happens next. In 11 hours the Prime Minister will make her announcement about what the next step will be. If we drop to level 3 businesses have to operate in a contactless way and teachers are pushing for early childhood centres and schools to remain closed. One of our biggest clusters of Covid-19 has been at a school. Most of the students who tested positive were asymptomatic but of course carried it home to their families.
I hope it goes well!

The expectation is for a second wave to come through. We may have waves and continued out breaks until a vaccine is available.

Even in the middle of the current wave, some States here are allowing people to go to church!

I fear for the people in those places
