The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Howdy Jae,
Yeah, I'll set them, just won't hold out for too much hope. They probably will be here Monday? USPS tracking page isn't updating correctly....supposedly, according to their tracking page, their still at the post office in New York. That can't be because the ones I got yesterday said the same thing. USPS

Here's some pics of the 'white' Silver Goldens

Nice!

USPS loses tracking information at the airport when the package is passed on the the carrier there

i understand that, husband started replacing the greenhouse walls yesterday, one down and three to go, the roof he replaced about three years ago so its good i have alot of things started in there, in the garden, mostly cool weather things, english peas, radishes, onions leeks, i also planted lettuce, mustard greens and rape (canola) i like it better than collards but still lots to start and transplant if the weather gets warmer
I hope the greenhouse rebuild goes well!

i have some chicks hatching today, so far, 5 out of nine fertile eggs, i swear i have no idea where these chicks are coming from (my chickens) two yellows, i silver and yellow, one black, and one chocolate, i don't have any blacks or white chickens ?????
It sounds like a nice hatch!

White hides a lot of genes for color

yes, if the last two hatch, that will make eight out of nine, i'm happy with it anyway except like i said, i don't have any white chickens or black, well i do have one white frizzle cochin hen but i didn't set any of her eggs and i hatched over fifty eggs last year from the orpingtons and always either chocolate or silver chocolate, no whites or white /black so ???? will be interesting to see how they mature out

Got another rooster in the wood pile? I have two lavender chicks that look like cochins, but my LF cochins are all black.

hi cap
lol, nope hes the only rooster in this tractor, i do have two cochins, one is each of the other two tractors ones a mille fleur color and the young one is a red frizzle, he does have a few black feathers if you look hard
edited to say, if either cochin gets out, that would be quite the trick

Good evening folks... I'm beat. Bread and bagels are done, and half the garden mulch is spread. There's got to be a better way.... Bought a pickup truck load. Moved it to the gator by hand (only got half as that's all the pile would hold by the garden). Dumped it as close to the garden as the gator can get. Then 5 gal buckets to move it into the garden. There's got to be a better way. I also need to learn a LOT more about tractors, I don't have one yet. The Ag guy says at minimum I need a compact 50 hp 4x4 and a 6x6 would be better. That said, my lawn guy was able to bush hog my logging trails with a 20 hp 2x4, but I think that kid grew up on a tractor. I don't even know how to turn one on. Well, the 50 hp 4x4 is still way outside my budget and I hate to spend the kind of money a tractor costs on something that won't get the job done... But I need something to eliminate this hand work, bush hog the property and not kill me. I also need a box blade and need to fix some erosion issues. What I know about farming can likely fill a thimble. I'm really missing my old job where I could pay someone who knows what they are doing to do it.
