The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sorry to have been absent again so long.

DH taught his former company a rather expensive lesson in why you should be fully aware of the labour laws in the countries you are operating in! He's gone for a job interview this morning so fingers crossed. When I read the ad the company had posted it sounded exactly like all the things he's good at. :fl

I've tried hatching some more chicken eggs from the same person but they got stuck in the post for 10 days. It didn't help that she'd forgotten about my order so decided to post them on a Friday! :barnie I have 2 that have miraculously survived and they are trying to hatch today, but they are both malpositioned. I did everything by the book, so I don't know what's going on there. One has pipped at the narrow end of the egg, the other has pipped internally as I can hear it cheeping, but I can't figure out which end is which, and I can't see its beak at all. So fingers crossed they make it. :fl It's frustrating though because I've never had this issue before with other species I've hatched. And two of the eggs she sent me were so porous that they started oozing egg white our of their pores after only a short time in the incubator, so I wasn't very happy about that.

Our two little OEGBs are adorable and super tame. Ffion is now called Fox. He is the cutest little cockerel you have ever seen and I'm very thankful he hasn't learned to crow yet (with any other chicken chicks we've raised the young boys always started crowing early - between 5 and 6 weeks!). He's a complete baby, cheeping constantly and always trying to hide under his big sister, Squeaks (who seems to take great delight in stepping on him). They are just over 6 weeks old now.

Our ducks are monstrous and I swear they get heavier every day (they aren't fully feathered yet so we are still lugging them in and out). I am looking forward to them moving out, but they are very loveable (though messy) creatures.

I promise not to be a stranger! (Can't believe so many days have flown by).
So nice to see you jae, sorry about the hatch.
she has high blood pressure???
yes
Wonderful! Tell her we all said get well soon.
We did. My DD is with her right now and will spend the night. I'll relieve her in the morning and stay through the afternoon. I'll be chatting with the boss tomorrow morning to work out my schedule going forward. Even though I can work from the hospital, I don't want to. So I'm going to suggest a morning/evening thing with leave in the middle. This is the problem with a one deep position.

Good evening folks :frow Sue woke up at 12:30 today. She opened her eyes, looked at me and smiled. She's talking a little and prefers to keep her eyes closed. But she stayed awake for more than two hours.

I'm sorry IM, She'll be in our prayers. :hugs
that is good news!

Hope things work out well for your DH with the new job he's interviewing for. Sounds like the last place he was at doesn't know how to treat it's employees.

Your OEGB's are so cute! Best of luck with the difficult hatch!

Positive news, Bob.

Hoping the same for your mother, IM.

:frow Good morning Sharron, have a great day. No news overnight is good news.
Sure is in this sort of situation.

Love the ones with eyeballs!
I think DMC was inspired by IM's avatar.

My favorite hobo
Mine too, he was a great comic.

My mother has milk duct breast cancer. This year really freaking sucks.
Had to look it up. Sorry to hear that she has it, glad it is one that is quite treatable.

Sounds like the lesson wasn't expensive enough, he is looking for a job ;)
I hope he gets it especially since it sounds like he is the perfect match. Is it, hopefully, closer to home, not in Auckland?

Sure is, no backup, no one understands what you are doing.
I'm glad Sue is doing OK, is she in any pain?

It's just half an hour up the road. They commented that he interviewed really well and they'll let him know by Friday. He was able to give them a copy of the glowing reference his former boss had given him (he resigned in protest over something the company had done and he's such an intelligent guy they were foolish to lose him). The next boss couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery!

Andrew knew there was no way in hell they would've eaten humble pie and agreed to take him back, and quite honestly he didn't want to go back. So he was happy to take the money. He'll never work for an Australian company again. The company he interviewed for is NZ owned. :fl
