The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

How long have you been working outside of the campus now Ron? (All this stuff seems like it's been dragging on forever.)
It seems like forever! We were sent home in mid march. Much of the County is opening up but the University is being very careful. There is a plan to get is back but then the new cases started spiking up in California.

The internet is back now and hopefully will stay up!

My guess is Ron has been at home for about 3 months since Cal started shutting down mid March.

I wish the phone company would put monitors out but given all the "Consolidated internet is bad" posts on the Front Porch Forum I know it isn't just us. The did "fix" something away from the house a couple of weeks ago and we haven't had to reboot the modem as often since then. But even every day or two is horrid functionality.
Yes, more than three months.

We do not have to reboot, the internet connection will come back on when the signal returns.

When it starts going slow, booting will kill the connection completely

I didn't do much talking lol. It's a decent job, small company, lots of support and not tied to a phone.
I had to spend a lot of time on the phone helping one of our retired Faculty change their password. It is not my favorite thing to do!

so glad i don't have a job anymore, dealing with the public is a pain and i now understand why i never saw a picture of my future mil smiling
good luck both in getting the job and dealing with the public
This job will involve far less dealing with the public than my last job. People are real a-holes that's for sure.

I can see my husband doing that when we finally get a vege garden sorted. 🤣

:fl It sounds perfect. Long interview though. :th

You are slightly warmer than it currently is here, though we should get to 54 which is pretty cold for here).
By the time it was over I had a headache!

:lauOh I can definitely relate. My last job included web support for our customers and sometimes I wanted to shoot myself in the head. Here's the website, see the big blue button on the right that says login? Right under it is a forgot your password link, click that...so you can't see the 2 inch wide, 2 inch tall blue box in the right corner? Oh! You weren't wearing your glasses? Here, let me help you

Hubby does it so he can get between the rows with the tiller...and it looks pretty:lol:
Look where our cat spends the majority of her days, whether the heater is on or off. 🤣
I laugh, but there are times she's on one side and I'm on the other trying to warm up.

We almost have the caravan fixed up so that we can sell it. We had to replace a skylight because DH had left it open slightly for ventilation, but we must've had a freak gust of wind that got under it and ripped it off. The TV aerial needed fixing too. But now it just needs a final wipe over and we can get rid of it so that we can afford to put in a proper fire/woodburner. :woot
Pretty cat!

I know!

This form has blue and red boxes and is very simple. Our system requires a reset token that goes into one of the boxes. There were two places to enter information into. It should be easy to find!

Then they wanted to hang up and fiddle with coming up with a passphrase...The reset code is one time use so I had them stay on the phone until it was all finished. We have to get the code from a proxy and it is not that easy of a process.

Luckily it all worked but it can be hard to get them to do things that are seemingly simple
