The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

A guy I worked with brought in some home made fruit cake and he said try this . His wife made it, I don't know how but it was off the charts good . Maybe some one of you folks know . He said something to this effect at some point there was fermentation involved .
I made a fruit cake once and it was very good!
 
The fruit cake in from the store is Awful ! You probably know Ron !
I used different dried fruit in the one I made, like candied lemon peel, orange peel and cherries. It make a huge difference from the citrons in the store fruit cakes
 
I had fruitcake once. It was delicious but it was more nuts then fruit. She left out the citrine or something.
One thing that might be a clue is my wife makes raisin bred toast and one time I grabbed a loaf that had been in the cupboard for a month It fermented in there without making mold OMG ! it was so good !
