That is chilly! We have '4 seasons in 1 day' kinda weather at the moment. One minute it's sunny and hot, then the clouds roll in and the cold southerly picks up, then back to sunny and hot, then you'll get a shower of rain or even a bit of hail. Typical spring weather.
I got hailed on the other day, but thankfully I had my sunhat on as it had been blazing sunshine. At the time I was trying to convince a stubborn calf to walk on the lead, but, as per usual, she was digging in her heels (so much fun when you're getting hailed on!). If you tie her to something she doesn't pull, but as soon as there's a human on the end of her lead it's a power struggle.
At least Miss Earlybird has the perfect temperament for a second house cow - her mother will have a spring calf and be milked for 6 months over spring and summer until Early, once she's old enough, can have an autumn calf so I can milk Early over autumn and winter. That's the plan anyhow.
We had a pair of wild Paradise ducks bring their 11 ducklings for a swim on our pond yesterday evening. They do have very cute ducklings. I couldn't get close enough for a photo though as they are very nervous creatures.
I'm hoping our last ewe will give birth maybe today, surely tomorrow at the latest. She looks so big and uncomfortable.
