The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Thanks Debby! We really don’t need the rain. If we don’t get too much it will be fine. It actually makes tillage go a little smoother(if it’s not wet already) We have one more quarter of corn to get out. He’s waiting a little on it cuz it’s not as dry as what he just took. He finished the other quarter yesterday. He just finished up on tillage on the home farm this morning. We are ahead of a normal fall. Last year was fantastic. We went straight through harvest with one rain shower. By afternoon he was back at it.

I put all my flower pots away this morning except the ones that are super heavy. Hubby has to do that. I swept the garage too. There was Hattie fur everywhere.

The lowest we’ve had is 45. I hope winter takes it’s sweet time getting here. Enjoy your nice day!

Sounds like you guys are making good progress with the farming!

I have some tomato plants to pull up and a couple of flower pots. I was just outside getting some fresh water to the chickens and noticed a skim of ice on the bird bath. Won't be long and it will be time to put up everything. And get the heated waterer out for the chickens.

I’m sure when it changes here it will change fast. I hope you don’t get early snow. We haven’t had a frost yet.
I walked past my garden yesterday and there’s a whole bunch of potatoes and green beans that started growing again. I’m sure it’s from when we had all that rain and lots of heat.

Will you have enough beans to can? Homegrown potatoes are the best! I didn't realize how much better they are than when we grew them in FL.

Good MOOrning everyone 💜 my car is in the shop.
Can you guess which one? :lau

Making a weird squeaking sound. Pretty pricey just for them to do diagnostics but I trust the place, and I like the people.
That's what I did last night for dinner. Nothing like a hot bowl of soup to warm you up!
I agree. I am not a fan of the cold but I am a huge fan of soup in the cold; I'm not a fan of cooking but I love making soup ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
What kind of soup you like the most?
I have a pumpkin question for you all...

Yesterday at the grocery store they had some nice medium sized pumpkins for sale. The orange ones were $5.99 each and the white ones were $1.29. I bought a white one for my flock. Being the frugal (aka: cheapskate) that I am, I bought a white pumpkin.

Is there a nutritional difference between the white and the orange?
That's a good question, I'm curious too!
I like the smell of fallen leaves , apple orchards and grape vineyards .:yesss:
I like those smells in a candle, in the fall :p but I wouldnt know if the scent is accurate since I dont live near those things.

Morning Mad :frow

Hmmm, which car? I know, it's the red Jeep, right? Just pile all those kids in the back. Hope they can figure out the squeak and it doesn't cost an arm & a leg.

My favorite soup is the chili DH makes. But since he hasn't made any since last winter, I had to settle for a can of butternut squash (and it was pretty good). What's your favorite?

Good afternoon everyone. It's crazy here at work today. Right now we have a dog giving birth to 6 puppies right in the office so I'm typing this while looking over to my right seeing this 7 year old chihuahua birthing babies

Hi riss :frow

I've never seen newborn Chihuahua babies, any chance you could share a picture? I had a Chihuahua growing up and she was a sweetie.

I grew up on canned chili but nothing compared to homemade goodness. I love chili! You're going to need to nudge him for some this year :p

I tried a boxed butternut squash soup once and I was not sure about the sweetness.

I love Albondigas (meat balls) soup :D

Hahaha :lau the kids fly out every so often jk.
The squeak is caused by my front break pads worn to nothing. The other 7 things they found is due to old age. Bought my car brand new in 2011, so about 10.5 years. I dont know why I think my car is younger than what it actually is.
Might cost the leg and arm, just to replace the breaks :( $500
I love this car to bits. My first car that I paid for, and paid off on my own. A little bit of an attachment :)
