The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning, IM. I'm sorry. Family drama is always stressful. I try to avoid it when I can. Fortunately, my kids (biological and step) are low drama, for the most part.
MIL wants to come back here. My husband is set against it. He says her behavior is only getting worse. She has accused the staff of stealing, had to change dining room table mates (because she doesn't trust them), and banned everyone from her apartment. 🙄

It's not hit $4 a gallon here, yet. I don't drive far to my part time job, but I'm going to have to give notice if it goes up more. It isn't worth driving 10 miles each way to work 4 hours.
The closest real towns to us are more than 25 miles or more. I try to stock up on things.
I’m sure the distrust makes things difficult for her and you both. I understand where your husband is coming from though, that’s a lot to deal with and it would all be on you. The facility staff are supposed to be trained to deal with it so I hope they can help her.

Good morning everyone. 69 degrees here yesterday. First time I‘ve had windows open since the house arrived! But they’re closed today - snow is moving in this afternoon!

Good morning Blooie :frow

We haven't reached that level of warmth (low 50's here) but same otherwise...rain turning into snow (and more snow and more snow).

Enjoy those open windows while you can!

Gas is $3.59 and Diesel is $3.94 here. It just took a jump this week.
Good morning Marie :frow

Wear those kids out sledding and make your day easier DMC

Morning Mark, your poor rose looks a bit frostbit this morning. Hope you're keeping warm!
They cancelled it, not enough snow on the golf course hill:wee
This is just a pretty sunset from last night. It makes me feel very blessed and grateful.
We are having perfect weather, right now to sit on the deck in the evenings. The Mosquitoes 🦟 haven't started pestering us just yet.

Do you live by a lake? That’s beautiful!
Good morning.
Hi Sour!

Yeah, there is a history between her and her boys. Talk about drama. My husband's brother does not speak to or visit his mother.
There is a daughter, who is younger than my husband, who was given up for adoption at birth. The sons didn't know until they were adults. She was adopted by Mil's cousin.
The sons are very resentful that mother gave her up. (She was a single mother to the boys at that time, and says she was raped. They think she was a surrogate based on a number of things, from that period in their lives.)
They try and stay in touch with their sister. MIL does not acknowledge her or her children. She has met them, but wasn't interested in a relationship. It's sad. I don't understand it, I'm very pro grandchildren, but I try to be a good daughter-in-law just the same.
I feel a little sleazy discussing this, but it feels nice to tell someone the background.

Hi Sour!
Thanks, DMC. We actually have a large private pond. Just one more reason for you to get that RV on the road!
🤣

But like Tam says, she’s an absolutely superb nurse. It’s just that her people skills with staff are sadly lacking.
Then it is the administration's fault that she is in a position of authority over others. She shouldn't have that job and probably doesn't like it anyway. They should let her be a superb nurse and put someone else in charge of personnel assignments. Serious case of the Peter Principle there.

I would be on his side of that discussion. MIL really needs professional support and her dementia isn't going to reverse.

How many days a week and could they make it a few days at 6-8 hours instead?
10 miles isn't really a very long commute (distance-wise anyway). DW's work week is 5.5 days, 38 hours and she drives 70 miles round trip.

Seriously bad constipation. I'm trying to get the benefits of good prebiotics through too them but they are all up in the air right now and cannot take in what I'm telling them.
Castor oil! While I personally do not need it for that purpose, that is its main medical use.

How old is your DH? I'm thinking they are wrong.

With regard to the price of gas, I wonder if anyone is now thinking that 25 MPG (or far less) SUV in the garage was a mistake.
