Well, Katie being the only competitor from her team isn’t the only issue now. They got registered in the hotel and rather than have Katie be alone in the hotel, she’ll be bunking with Coach Heidi. That much was good to hear. But then Coach John threw her a curve ball at dinner…..he went to Event Registration and entered her in a second category. She wasn’t expecting that at all and she’s panicked. He entered her in the “Humor” category. We in the family know that Katie has a fantastic way of relating a funny story, complete with perfectly timed pauses, facial expressions and hand gestures, but apparently the coach knows it too. She was given her speech and had to learn it last night and this morning for presentation this afternoon. I hope Katie kept Coach Heidi up half the night helping her!! I talked to her this morning and she’s worried that with two presentations to make, she’ll lose focus and mess up parts of both. I tried to reassure her, but she’s there, I’m not. Coach said he’d never have done it if he didn’t have complete confidence in her, but the addition of another entry actually increased her chances of placing.
We’ll see. Oh please, send her all of your good thoughts! I don’t care if she wins or not, but I do care if that blossoming self-confidence disappears!
