The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

My oldest is 53, my youngest is 49. I’m still waiting for the moody thing to stop.

It was crazy trying to get chicks. I was online at MPC and the breeds I was adding to my cart were for the week of May 2nd and available. AS I WAS ADDING them to the cart and went to checkout, suddenly a message popped up saying some of the breeds I’d selected were not available for the requested date. What??? So I spent a great deal of time modifying, changing, and I never did get my chocolate layers….almost every breed on there suddenly says “limited availability” but hadn’t said that when I started. Weird!!

I did. Hit the sack around 5 and slept until 7:30. :lau

I’m still not real sure I want to do this. It’s been kinda nice not having the chicken chores and stuff right now. And the location of the coop is an issue….it’s super close to where the deck will be. I’m not sure I like that, but it can’t be moved. That’s the reason we were going to remove the whole setup when the weather got warmer. Oh, well.

Good thing you got your order in when you did Blooie. At least you'll get some chicks.

I know what you mean about it being sort of nice to not have the chicken chores for a while. My flock went to a new home 3-4 weeks ago and it's made my day easier, but I do miss them. And it's a lot more work taking care of them here in these WY winters. DH keeps mentioning that once we get situated with our own house in FL I can get another flock, but we'll see (I might be spoiled lazy by then).

I have to admit they take a little work. I have on occasion, fantasized about having only six again. I'm fortunate not to have the awful winters. Our summers are pretty rough on the flock, and me. I told my broody girls, again today, "no more chicks!" I'll be keeping a close eye out for hidden eggs.

We'll see if they listened to you Janie :gig

You need those chicks!
I think so too:lol:
Good morning folks :frow Someone woke me up to kill the biggest spider I've ever seen in the house!

:frow Good morning Debby, have a great day

:frow Good morning Blooie, have a great day and get some sleep. Congrats on the chicks.

:frow Good morning DMC, have a great day... Hope you get the chicks.
Hi Bob. You’re the best husband! I hate spiders.

When are the chicks due to hatch DMC? Hope you'll get them and share pictures!
Not sure when they hatch, maybe 2 weeks. The kids get first chance at them. My husband is not on board like me. I wouldn’t take all of them either. The person who donated the eggs will take whatever chicks aren’t spoken for. I want them but we’ll see what happens:D

Good afternoon. I sure hope everyone is having a wonderful day. Hi Debbie, my female Mallard has 5 eggs as of today, I have her in a cage pen with a nest box built on. She is the last one I have so I am hoping for some ducklings. She's a cutie and a nice small pure Mallard and so is the drake. You would not believe how strong they are. I have two nest boxes of Carolina ducks also, but they are wild ones that will be left to nature. The swans should be hatching in the next week or two and I have a problem. No way to transfer data to this new computer. I bet Ron would know what to do. How am I going to get photos of the cygnets transferred to this computer? :idunno
What is your computer?

Will do!

I just got done making cream puffs. I haven’t made them since I was a teen. I will fill them in the morning so they don’t get too soggy.
We have teacher appreciation day tomorrow.

I am now sitting outside. It is so beautiful out. There is very little wind and the sun is shining. 😊
