As it is only a one lane road with a drop off on one side and a mountain and power poles on the other, it's not really possible. When the road was originally built it was to serve two houses.

The state of Texas has been using private contractors for some of the road work here. I don't like that.
They often don't put up road construction signs, or "flagger ahead". You just run up on stopped traffic, on blind curbs or hills. It's scary. And stupid.
I expect an accident to happen, on the hwy we live off of, anytime now.

Just learned yesterday that at some point in the not to distant future we'll be trapped. The highway department is going to tear out our street and replace it. No way in or out while they are working.

When I was on town council, we had one street in town that was a long-time trouble spot. We absolutely had to provide egress for residents and emergency responders. I don’t get it…..do you know if it will be a county road crew or a state crew doing the road?
 
The night before we left for Billings, I finally saw a hummingbird at a feeder!! Instead of packing, I ended up sitting out here watching for him to come back until it got dark. It was an adult Rufous, and he was glorious in the light from the setting sun.

Yesterday when we got home, Ken got me all settled in my favorite chair on the porch and I waited to see if he’d come back. He did….and so did two others. I’ve got my hummers back!! No pictures yet except for one fuzzy shot with my iPhone, but I’m so happy!
