Thanks, it’s a charcoal gray brick. It needs TLC. They are really to small to hold back dirt. This is my flower retaining wall, same brick. The back is starting to shift and get uneven.

It still looks great to me! Just plant something that spreads. Something red or yellow to show off the charcoal color.

Thanks! That would be pretty. These would have spread had the storms not demolished them. I took these today. The rest in the retaining wall were wrecked. I have volunteer moss roses in them.

Good morning, everyone 🐓

Speaking of hurricanes, Hurricane Little DIane leaves tomorrow. Not sure how I feel about it…..part of me will miss her bright giggle and her company. But the other part of me is about over her staying up until 2,3, even 4 in the morning, sleeping until noon or later, helping herself to whatever, and her absolute addiction to her phone and tablet. First night here I asked her to wait until after dinner to do whatever it was that was so important. By her 3rd night here I finally laid down the law - I didn’t spend time cooking a great meal just to see her let it get cold while she has her face buried in her electronics. I picked up her plate and stuck it in the fridge. When she questioned what I was doing, I told her it was dinner time, but if her electronics were that important she could go sit on the porch and electronic away, then eat when she was finished with it.

If there’s something in the pantry, fridge, or freezer she wants, it’ll be gone when we get up, with the mess from making it still left in my beautiful new kitchen. That includes things I may have been planning to use for the next night’s meal. There’s a makeup stain on the guest room carpet. Yesterday while we were gone she decided she wanted to dye her hair. Red. I hope that comes out of the tub. I swear, she’s more like 17 than 27. Can’t help me in the yard because she’s “allergic to weeds, grass, and flowers”. Can’t help me with the chickens because she gets “major anxiety” around them. <sigh>

But she and Ken put on the new storm door on the front, she takes great care of the dogs, and her laundry is always done and put away neatly. She makes her bed (when she finally gets out of it) and takes out the trash at the first sign of it being full. The patio door wasn’t working right, so she and Ken got that fixed. They installed 2 ceiling fans. She helped a lot while I was in the hospital and when I got home.

Now she’s decided to sell her house in Sioux Falls and move back here. She announced that last night. Grampa let her know in no uncertain terms that this visit she’s been a guest - and not a very courteous one. When she comes back, she’ll be a resident, which means she’s on her own. She can stay with us for a couple of weeks until she meets her two priorities. First priority is a job, second is a place to live because she’s not living here. He told her she will not be permitted to be a “basement-dwelling adult”. We aren’t driving to SF and helping with her packing and hauling her stuff back here, and she’s not stuffing our garage with her junk. She’ll have to do all of that on her own, including renting a storage unit. She seemed a little less enamored with the idea after that, so we’ll see. I think she thought WE’D move her back in with us so she could continue the routine she’s established here. Nope. Not happening.

Am I being unreasonable? This 2 week visit has been a month long trial. And it’s not like we haven’t set boundaries…..she just has this attitude of still being a kid with Gramma and Grampa being responsible for her like when she was little. She’s not little anymore!!
:hugs I can relate. No, you’re definitely not unreasonable!
