My mom always started decorating for Christmas in October. My dad loved Halloween, so we had overlapping decor.

I really prefer the food over the gift giving. it gets really stressful when you want to give a person something that they'll love, but you don't know what they would love, and you don't have the time to bring it up. plus the last-minute shopping traffic is HORRIFIC! even in our small, uncivilized town, it is rush, rush, rush. I enjoy the christmas eves when it is snowing hard. you can cozy down, read a book, have some hot chocolate, eat some christmas goodies... those are the best times. then there's also taking out the ornaments to decorate the tree. I tend to find hanging the curtains a bit more fun, but... that's just me.

We give gifts to our kids and that’s it.

Us too but with 5 kids, 5 in-laws, and 11 (going on 12) grandkids. It's still an expensive holiday for us. We have sure lowered their expectations since retirement. Lol.
