Seasoned Fries

2-4 potatoes (depending on size)
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
Olive oil

Wash and peel the potatoes. Slice into sticks, around 1/4" thick. Put into bowl and rinse well in cold water, soak the potatoes at least 30 minutes (to removed starch from potatoes). Rinse well. Lay out on several layers of paper towel and get as dry as possible.

Spread potatoes out on a foil lined baking sheet in a single layer. Mix up the seasonings. Lightly toss the potatoes with the olive oil then toss the seasonings on the potatoes, coating the potatoes evenly.

Bake at 400* for 15 minutes. Turn the potatoes over. Increase oven to 425* and bake another 15-20 minutes.

They're delicious!
Thank you! They sound good. I will try them when I get my new oven element. I got a new one last April and it died this past weekend.

I can understand that.
So can I!! Some folks, especially the “ooooh, I wuvs my baby-wabies so much” crowd, can’t imagine that there actually is a life without chickens.
$90.00 a chick? I can’t imagine.
Pay that and have them die in shipping or shortly thereafter? No thanks!
Good morning Sour! I was thinking of you this morning while making DH some oatmeal raisin cookies and wondering whether he would prefer male cookies or female :gig (He's getting female cookies.)

It's our wedding anniversary today (just 11 years for us, we're almost newlyweds).
happy, happy anniversary to you and Frankenfoot!! :love
Good morning all. It’s an E-Learning day today. I started last night and finished this morning. This is what it looks like right now. 🤨I hope it doesn’t turn into anything since it’s doing nothing.

That looks like a good place to spend an afternoon...a comfy chair, a cold drink and a good book :)
Agreed!

I can understand that too. I do enjoy them, but they are work and tie you down if you don’t have a reliable sitter.

I don’t think time is necessarily an indicator of love, and when in life love happens doesn’t matter. Lots of people stay married and are miserable. I’m not in that category, just sayin’

That seems like a lot of oven elements. Maybe time for a new oven?
That’s what I thought. The light doesn’t work and hasn’t for a long time. He replaced a burner a couple years ago. That was a chore as it’s a ceramic top. I ordered 2 elements this time so I have a backup. When they die I’m getting a new oven. We have a slide in oven and they are more expensive. I think we paid $1300 for it 10 years ago.

I pay $27 for flock raiser. I just can’t bring myself to feed layer to the rooster and it’s easier when there’re chicks around.
Same. I love the roosters and their baby chicks too.

Hush! I'm trying to stay away from carbs. You're tempting me.
