The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Sounds like winter just keeps hanging on. You must be more than ready for some spring (or summer) weather!
It got to 42* yesterday. It was beautiful at recess. We’ve had snow since November. The older I get, the more I hate it. I feel bad for the wildlife. I have never seen so many pheasants lining the sides of the highways. The deer are eating hay bales that farmers have left in the field. It just needs to end. I think it’s making up for the drought of last summer. The spring was wet but the summer was dry.

Your pheasants by the side of the roads makes me think of all the dead antelope we'd see by the roads during WY winters. Very sad.

Hopefully some of that snow makes up for the drought and what you're getting now will be helpful for your crops this summer.

The pheasants are alive. They just can’t find food as the snow is so deep. When it melts I hope it melts slow or we will have flooding. It will definitely fill the sloughs up which will be great for water fowl and anything else that drink from it.
What caused the antelope to die?

Live pheasants are definitely better than dead antelope. Some died from lack of food and some from illness. Here's an article about the sickness that recently killed some (the same as in 2019 when we were there): pneumonia-kills-pronghorns

Nature can be so cruel.
