The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Hi Sue, stuff sure does add up. Good for you on getting rid of things. I usually only do that when I move :gig
Good thing you move often!

After all, I'm sure they left plenty of their own junk when they moved out.
Yep. DD1 came home from college with a bunch of stuff she accumulated over the years. A LOT of it is still upstairs in our "library/sitting room" because the house her now husband bought in VA is very small. And now they have to find room for all the wedding presents!

DD2 is collecting stuff for when she moves out (she is 28). The way things are going we'll die or move to a retirement community first.

I warned my son back when I moved from WY and then again from FL, someday this will all be his.
You are lucky he moved it into boxes instead of a dumpster ;)

Debby, this one's for you:

Here there’s a bunch of competition so if you suck, you don’t get more jobs. Seems there’s not much competition there? Maybe that’s the issue.
Maybe so. My brother owns a construction company (bought from my dad)
He never lacks for work and always has two crews going. He turns down jobs if he can't get to them in a timely manner. He is also very careful about communicating with his customers. There are other companies that start out busy but get a bad reputation because they get so far behind and they do not keep their customers informed. My brother's business is highly rated and even when construction is stagnant, he is busy and keeps his crew on. It's because he, and my father before him, have always believed communication, and reliability were just as important as doing a good job.

That's the way it should work. This guy never calls, all phone calls have come from me. I told DH I was done talking to the guy, so he's going to deal with him from here on out.

The company I hired in WY took just 3 days to remove a chain link fence and install a 6' privacy fence with gate. After 2 months of hiring this guy, all we have to show for it are some (not all) fence posts up.
