The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

We got about 6" so far here and it's still coming down. 😢

I've been sick for over two weeks so I hope you do not get this! Hubby got it and has taken the last two days off from work. I'm finally feeling way better so coming to the home stretch I think! :)

Sorry to hear you've been sick Deb. Hope that bug is on it's way out for both you and your DH.

Such a difference in "camping" environments and I didn't realize it!

Here's similar to one of our "remote" camping spots. One needs to practically bathe in mosquito spray to survive though.

Good morning, Debbie.
That's more my type of habitat. I bathe in bug spray every morning and afternoon. Apparently word has gotten around that my backyard is a mosquito sanctuary.

We had storms last night. Hail and rain. Can't wait for the sun to come up, so we can see the damage. Hopefully it's just a few small limbs down, and nothing major.

Yikes, hopefully things are ok Janie :fl

Mornin' Janie. :hugs

We fight them here at home too. More so as there's a creek in our back yard where they breed, probably like in your pond too. We tried putting First Saturday Lime around our side of the creek in the marshy areas in the spring. It doesn't hurt frogs or anything else but kills the mosquito larvae supposedly. We do think it helped. We also use those "dunks" that you put in a bucket of water and set out. It draws the females to lay their eggs in those and they die. Every little bit helps!

I'm sure they will be. The car, truck, and utility vehicles are all under cover, and the roosters are growing so they are fine.
We've cut most of the dangerous trees. We do have a few that I still worry about, but so far so good.

I haven't tried the dunks, but I will. I use First Saturday to dust the coops down, and permethrin on the chickens for mosquitoes and black flies/gnats. It helps some. I also put sticky traps in the run. I don't catch many mosquitoes on them but they are covered with gnats and scorpions within a week.
