The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

The black and gray are definitely my favorite. True black (that doesn't sun fade) is hard to find. They usually look brown, but if their tongue is black, they are black.

There is a link that I've heard between copper and keeping nice dark black fleeces, but I haven't experimented with it much since sheep can't have too much copper, but they do need some. I've also heard it helps prevent Barber Pole worm, so I need to do more research. There's only a specific kind of copper you want to give sheep.

I have to bolus the goats with it since they need it but the sheep can't have too much. They are all turds, though, and chew them up or spit them out. (I haven't found a balling gun I want to buy yet.) It's not my favorite chore. 😂

I had to look up what "bolus the goats" means. Interesting, but can imagine why it's not your favorite job.

It sounds complicated! I better stick to chickens.

Me too, I love seeing her pictures!

We raised a few goats when we had our little FL farm and they were fun but a handful.
Good morning, Debby ☕️ I know they would be too much of a handful for me. I'm trying to scale down. I have a neighbor next door that would like some of my chickens. I've explained about their illness but she still wants some, so I may rehome an entire flock with her.

Morning Janie :frow If some of your flock went to the neighbor, you'd be close enough to see how they're doing and help her out if she needs it. Might be a good deal for both of you.
