The NFC B-Day Chat Thread

Good morning.
My mom water bathed. I loved going into her fruit cellar and seeing everything she canned. I was so lucky that I had a mother that did it.
Mom did the same thing. Our cellar was filled with canned fruit, vegetables and the best jellies you have ever tasted.

Good morning, Debby.
Good morning everyone.
Jim has a doctor's appointment this morning. Its just his 6 month checkup. Hopefully he will feel up to a grocery store run afterwards. If not, I'll make another trip Monday.
See you all later this evening.

Good morning Janie, hope the appointment trip goes well. Later!

Good morning Sour!

My mom water bath canned but us kids weren't allowed to be in the kitchen when she did it. She said it was to keep us safe but I think it was really to keep us out of her hair

Same! I’ve never had a pickle or a canned peach that compared to hers. I recently bought strawberry/rhubarb jelly from 2 Amish places and they were not as good as my mom’s. I think the secret ingredient was love.

We pitched in during canning. All that peeling and etc. is a lot of work!

I hope to make some Nectarine and blackberry jelly soon.

I ordered a new office chair from costco. I have it together and it is much nicer than the old chair. That one is from 2011 and was not good even then.

Hi Ron, that jelly you're planning on sounds good. Congrats on the new office chair!

We were forced labor. We picked, shelled, peeled, and fetched. Good memories!
I think my fear of rodents came from a canning incident when I was around 4 or 5. My mom, aunts, and grandmother were canning and a mouse jumped out of a bushel basket. They were all grabbing babies jumping on chairs. Scared me half to death.
