I enjoyed watching mine hatch but I always had a broody handy to give them to.Aww. Thank you.
That is how I got addicted to hatching back in the day. Had a hen go broody. BYC friends suggested I have an incubator ready just in case. Well, she had been real good laying on those eggs, until she wasn't! She got off one day to eat and do her business and didn't return. I hurried and warmed up the incubator not knowing a thing about this business. And..thats all she wrote when those babies hatched.![]()
I started with adult hens, and one of them was constantly broody. That hen, her own broody girls, caused my flock to grow from 8 to 30 in just a couple years. Then I bought a half dozen bantams. The population is on the decline now. I am not adding to the flock and longer but I have enjoyed all the chicks.
