Hi Debby. We adopted our Opie in December of 2016 so Spuds would have a buddy. It took 24 hours of chasing each other and they became friends.

That last picture is precious.
Junapurr was Boo's buddy long before Boo was Junapurr's buddy.

When I lived in Wyoming, my flock was comfortable with their run wrapped (left it open at the very top) and we always got crazy cold winters there. I would leave their coop door going into the run open so they could either be in their coop or out in their wrapped run and they always got through the winters ok.

We just moved to KY in summer of 2023. For the 2023 winter there wasn't much snow at all and for the 2024 winter it snowed pretty often. So who knows what winter 2025 will bring...maybe nothing or maybe something

Good morning Debby! Yes, most chickens are better suited to cold weather than hot. Give them a place to shelter and they snuggle right in.
