The no good hen encounter!

Are they antibiotic?  Eye infections can be serious.

General post....keep your face away from chickens, go hug the dog. :D

My dog is always trying to slip me the tongue. Bleh! I usually know when to keep my face away from the chickens, especially when they cock their head to the side. It means they're getting a (probably not so bright) idea. My husband calls it "chicken braining" and it's dangerous! Lol

My mother inlaw needs to read this lol. I use to work on her horse ranch and i would gather the eggd for her (her coop keeps the chickens at eye level when inside unless they are on the ground) she would make fun of me for nudging chickens off the top of nesting boxes/ roosts because i didnt want to get pecked in the eye she always said they wont peck you in the eye. Yeah i think she needs to read this for educational reasons.

Lol must remember that! Why I thought they wouldn't go near my face I don't know! Sure they peck at everything!

I've had a few hard pecks. Well, there are pecks as in " I don't have opposable thumbs, so I'm checking this out with my beak" and then there are bites... Open beak, clamp down and twist, as in "I don't need opposable thumbs to take a chunk out of you"... Those chickens get the "Cesar Milan"; the quick poke and a loud "psssssst!". It works for us. ;)

Edited to add: The Cesar Milan works great on kids too.

*Kidding. I don't hiss at my kids. (Usually)

Ha! I need to remember that one! THAT'S what she did, too; open beak, bite, twist... I admit, I might have cried ;)

That wouldn't shut me up, I'd be yelling &*#$ at the top of my lungs!
