All we need to do is shingle the roof, make the door for the end of the run, and add the white trim on the corners of the coop. My 15 chick-chicks have been living in the coop for a week, and allowed into the run for the past 4 days. Now, they are completely protected and they're loving every minute of it!

Thank you! My Beloved Husband did a fantastic job, and our Darling Daughter was a huge help, too. Our girls are going to be so oooooooooo spoiled, LOLOLOLOL

The coop's foot print is 4x8, and the run - including the area under the coop - is 8x24'. We've already set up a seating area to watch the 24/7 chicken channel - besides having ChickenCam inside the coop ;-)

NICE!!!

I'm a little confused by the ramp going to the people door instead of what looka like it should be the pop door(chicken door).

Are those short, long panels up high top hinged, closable vents?

Oh.... pics of the inside please?

Oh, that "people door" (where the pop door might normally be) is an unused closet door we had hanging around. I'm not sure we're going to put in a pop door; we weren't intending to, but we've had a few days of cool, rainy weather, and we're reconsidering.

Three sides of the coop have hinged window panels up high (with hardware cloth screen, of course), and the two big lower panels you see in the last pic are clean out doors. Oh, and the triangular section under the roof (first & second pix, painted green and kinda hard to see) also drops open. This baby has GREAT ventilation!

The panels next to the ladder (first pic) will be replaced by another screened door, similar to the one in the second pic right next to the nesting boxes.

As for interior photos, I'll try to get some up later today.

Thanks so much for the compliment!

Oh, and what LOOKS like a pop door on the front is actually a screened window with a hinged panel cover. Extra ventilation, and my girls love looking out of it when they're closed in the coop.

Ahh, I see.....I would have put the people door into the coop outside of the run, so you don't have to walk thru the run to get into the coop....
.. but then again, the extra ventilation to the coop by the people door is a good thing.

You've done an excellent job on adjustable(closable) ventilation, that's rare in rookie coop building, and you'll be really glad you did.
I lovelovelove the deep roof overhangs, love the way they look and they are incredibly functional for leaving windows and vents open during a rain.

Well, the coop could be the 'Nugget Nest' and the run could be the 'Fowl Fortress'. :D
Tho 'nugget' implies the eating of chicken..... and maybe that's not part of the plan.

My Beloved Husband designed and built the whole thing - with help from our awesome daughter and occasional help from me - and in his research he saw "ventilation, ventilation, VENTILATION!" so he made sure he designed it in. *grinz* I think he's brilliant!

He did the overhangs for exactly the reason you said: we want the coop to be open and airy in as many weather conditions as possible. That also why the roofed area is 8x8: the girls will always have dry ground.

Now I've got to get the interior pix and some portraits of my girls!
