I am working a incubator. DH is convinced he can make me one cheaper and better than the one I found online. We will see.
How much did you pay for yours? (I can build a REALLY low cost incubator. A good one too!)I am working a incubator. DH is convinced he can make me one cheaper and better than the one I found online. We will see.
Quote: The one I found online is $164. So far the parts we are getting will be about 65 bucks for parts we don't have. We are limited since we live in the middle of nowhere in Northeastern Wisconsin. We are by the UP of Michigan. This is the one we are using as our guide for the one we are building. Most of the materials we will be recycling and re-purposing for this.
We will need to purchase these parts -
- A latch ( $2 )
- (2) plexi-glass window panes ( this will be purchased for about $ 10 )
- (1) Thermostat ( we found one that will work for $17 )
- (1) Hydrometer ( hydrometer with thermometer in it for $33 )
So for around $62 or so we should have an incubator. DH found the Thermostat and Hydrometer that will help us. The Thermostat will be controlling the heat source ( household light bulb ). My husband is smarter than I am for these things. Now lets see how long I have to wait for it to be built. lol

I told him the one I found hold 48 eggs. He is going to measure to see how many the drawers we have will hold. Not that I will ever hatch more than 2 or 3 dozen but it would be nice to be able to hatch 4 dozen.
Of course. But I'm sur mine would use me as bait![]()
