I was new to chickens last June when a co-worker gave me Hoss the rooster and I bought 21 day old chicks from a local hatchery. It turned out several of the girls were boys and the hatchery gave me a pullet credit so on the 11th of this month I went to get my 5 free chicks, and well I mean who can get just 5?! So I ordered 15 more pullets. Total 20 new babies.

I still have 18 out of my original total of 22 chickens, 2 roosters Hoss and Dougie and 16 hens all laying prolifically.

Ms Lewis Rich has been kind enough to incubate some of my eggs and they are all hatched out and I get to pick them up tomorrow! Add 10 more chicks to give me a total of 48!

This is the most addicting hobby I have ever enjoyed!

We just got our first chicks thurdsay and we are already discussing what to order next spring... Go figure. Hooked on Chicks already.. Is there a cure for this fever? lol

Hoss is a mystery, kind of a golden duckwing looking mix:

Dougie was supposed to be a Light Brahma but is another hatchery mystery:

All the rest are Light Brahma, Black Australorps, Buff Orpington, Barred Plymouth Rocks, Golden and Silver Laced WYandottes, and Easter Eggers:

All lined up at the gate and waiting.
